  • 34th Lunch Date: DON'T TOUCH MY MONEY!!!!!

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: Dear Nique Letter

On today’s lunch date episode, the team responds to a Dear Nique letter. The writer needs help deciding if she should follow her heart and give her ex-fiancé a second chance, despite his prior betrayal. While the RSP hosts all agree that the woman is likely making a huge mistake giving him another chance, they acknowledge the main issue is not even mentioned in the letter at all. After discussion and deliberation, Yusuf contends that her challenge is more of a reflection of her low self-esteem. C.L. concludes that there are enough facts presented in the letter to draw a logical conclusion; however, Nique feels that if she had more information, she could better inform the writer. Professor Tee, while emphatically pointing out that she wouldn’t even consider giving this man a chance, attempts to present an unpopular opinion about the man’s issue. As always, the highlight of the episode is reading the listener's comments and laughing at the raw, unfiltered responses and reactions.

  • 81st Date: We Ain't In Love, We In Trouble

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: "Love" VS. "In Love"

On this week’s episode of RSP, the team discusses “love” and “in love.” They tackle the perceived differences between the two, concluding that many people treat the term “in love” like it’s the greater goal. Often used, the phrase, “I love him/her, but I’m not in love” suggests that love is not enough. C.L. challenges the term, stating emphatically that it’s not even a thing, and he doesn’t believe in the term “in love.” Professor Tee admits that she had a warped understanding of the two until her dad helped her see the flaw in her thinking. Nique shares a personal experience of being in love, while also sharing how that love still impacts her today. Finally, Yusuf admits that what he once thought was him being in love was actually him being infatuated with the person. Be sure to chime in, and be prepared to share your definitions and experience with “love” and “in love.”

  • 33rd Lunch Date: I Tell People No First

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: Dear Nique Letter

On today’s lunch date episode, the team discusses a listener’s letter to Nique. The writer states, “I have never had a successful relationship, as I’ve usually cheated or looked for something more (outside of my relationships). He mentions his father’s infidelities and wonders if it will take him just as long to get himself together as it took his dad. Should the writer focus on self-love and self-care before trying to love someone new, or can he do both simultaneously? Professor Tee suggests he takes the time he needs to heal and focus on the man he wants to be. CL points out that the writer should recognize that he may be suffering from his own self-inflicted wounds. Nique tells him, “You can’t put the old you in new situations,” while Yusuf offers, “You first need to DECIDE to do things differently so that you CAN do things differently.” The writer’s biggest fear is that he will be nearly 70 years old before he finally gets himself together.  Join the team to hear them dissect the letter, and be sure to participate in the conversation on their social media platform.

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: Getting to The Root

In this episode of RSP, the team has a Black Table Talk moment, after Yusuf points out that one of our listeners thinks the men gang up on Nique. Professor Tee attempts to serve as a mediator as C.L. and Nique dissect their communication chemistry on the show. Meanwhile, Yusuf sits quietly during this segment, even though he is the one who brings up the issue. Later in the show, the ladies pick up with Part 2 of the conversation on toxicity. Nique and Professor Tee go deeper with their traits and attempt to discuss the points of origin. In both cases, they attribute much of it to their childhood experiences. C.L. attempts to push both women to see how their traits impact their interactions with other team members. As the conversation ensues, you’ll hear members of the team say things like, “I am sorry,” “I’ll do better,” and “I’m working on it,” after FINALLY reaching some points of agreement.

  • 79th Date: The Root

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: Getting to The Root

During this episode of RSP, the gentlemen get to the root of their toxicity. In a previous episode, The 72nd Date: "Don't Tell A Black Woman Anything", each member shared his/her challenging or toxic trait. Today’s episode is a continuation of that conversation, where we explore the origin of the issues. The conversation begins with C.L. attempting to imply that all toxicity is not necessarily bad, and he uses one of Babyface’s songs to illustrate the point. Professor Tee challenges one of his points, which leads to role-playing. During the discussion, Nique brings up the controversial point that some women want to be “tamed” or “handled.” C.L. finally shares why he’s judgmental and why he feels like he has to push or pressure people beyond their level of comfortability. As for Yusuf, WHEW! We revisit a previous conversation where he discussed his defensiveness, but he surprises us with a much deeper toxic trait. We won’t spoil it for you, but just know that it has to do with his pattern of previous behaviors in relationships, situationships, and entanglements with women and how that history impacts his present. Join us for the truth and transparency on this Black Table Talk episode.

On this week’s lunch date episode of RSP, the crew meets up at the Blue Tide Crabspot. During the conversation, the women tell C.L. that he has traditional views. Nique talks about her friend who eats his wings with the pinkies up. Yusuf says he will NEVER get a pedicure, and Professor Tee says she’d side-eye a guy if he orders a fruity drink with an umbrella. The team laughs at and shares a few other behaviors they consider to be gender violations. Enjoy this laid back atmosphere, and be sure to join us on social media to leave your comments.

  • 78th Date: A Whole Mess

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: Dear Nique

In this episode of the Relationship Status Podcast, the crew deciphers a Dear Nique letter, submitted by a writer who calls himself, “A Mess.” The writer is seeking advice about how he can win back the love of his life, who he claims he wants to marry.

Nique thinks the gentleman should focus more on getting himself together, rather than trying to focus on getting back the woman he’s hurt and betrayed. Yusuf brings up the point that the bigger issue is the writer’s lack of maturity. C.L. reiterates the point that relationships can work if both parties put forth the work it takes. Cheating, lack of accountability, and manipulative motives come up in the conversation as well. Are there drawbacks to marrying in your twenties? Are inappropriate work relationships breeding grounds for deception? The team analyzes the statement, “You can’t be married AND single,” and the conversation takes a life of its own.

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf

    Topic: Dear Nique

On today’s Lunch Meet episode, Nique shares a personal letter for the Dear Nique hour, in an attempt to get advice and feedback from her teammates. “Am I crazy,” she asks the team, as they all try to dissect the details of the enigma. In short, she shares that a longtime friend has verbalized his desire to get to know Nique in a way that moves beyond platonic; however, the two have yet to go on a date. According to Nique, whenever she mentions their lack of dating, he tells her that she’s moving too fast. As a result, Nique is confused and is wondering if she should ghost him. C.L. tells her that ghosting is immature, Professor Tee asks Nique to decide what she wants out of this, and Yusuf plainly suggests that the gentleman wants sex. Listen to the entire episode to hear how the conversation pans out. Join us on social media to let Nique know what you think about the situation. Should she communicate with him a little more, throw in the towel, or ghost him in order to avoid an entanglement?

    Topic: Quitters

In this week’s episode of RSP, the team discusses quitters. Why do some people throw in the towel and give up prematurely on relationships and connections that appear to be quite promising? The crew surveyed the listeners (50% women & 50% men) who shared their personal reasons for giving up or walking away too soon. One answer that seemed to resonate with some of our quitters was this notion of waiting and wondering if something better would come along. Nique says when she’s dating, she focuses on Mr. RIGHT NOW, and she doesn’t think about the possibility of someone else. Yusuf tries to get the group to understand that everyone doesn’t have the same concept of respect and those differences can sometimes create confusion if not communicated. C.L. contends that even a stripper wants to be treated with respect and that no woman should have to tell a man that she wants to be treated with decency. Professor Tee shares that a man once quit or gave up on her because he said she was too strong. Listen to find out more about why quitters quit and how we can recognize the signs of a quitter.
