Topic: Friends and Relationships Pt. 2
On today’s episode of RSP, the team continues the conversation about friendship dynamics and how friends’ perspectives impact their friends’ romantic relationships. Can friends overshare information about their relationships? Are friends able to offer an unbiased perspective? Do our friends hold us accountable when we make poor decisions about our romantic relationships? Guest hostess, K. Antoinette, suggests that there should be a balance. She contends that people shouldn’t share too much about their romantic relationships, and friends also shouldn’t overshare their friends’ business with their significant others. C.L. challenges the women to answer the question, “Why don’t women think they’re the problem? Why do they always think it’s some other woman?” Yusuf inquires, “How much does a friend’s opinion influence the decisions one makes in a relationship?” Nique insists that her friends have minimal impact on her decisions. C.L. says he doesn’t ask anyone’s opinion about someone he’s interested in, but he expects his friends to understand why he’s interested in a particular person. To hear everyone’s answers to these questions about friendship dynamics, tune in to this episode and share your thoughts. Also, as an added bonus, be sure to listen closely to discover the details behind the mystery of Nique’s twerk video.

Topic: Dear Nique
On today’s lunch date episode, the crew responds to a Dear Nique letter where the writer asks, “Will a ho phase help me regain my self-confidence?” The writer shares that she discovered her ex cheated multiple times and learning those details did not give her the closure she thought she needed. C.L. points out that the writer should not consume herself at all with why he cheated or how many times he cheated. He implies that that’s wasted energy. Guest, K. Antoinette, says that the writer subconsciously puts some blame on herself, and this is revealed when she writes, “I never turned him down sexually.” Nique disagrees that any of this is the woman’s fault, while everyone else says she likely ignored some red flags. The team analyzes the term ho phase. “Why would women want to duplicate the negative behaviors of men,” C.L. asks. K. Antoinette states that a healed, emotionally healthy woman who wants to explore her sexual freedom is liberating, but she points out that in this scenario, the writer is likely not healed. Yusuf says she doesn’t need to explore a ho phase; he says she needs to do some work on herself instead. To hear the depth of the dialogue and to hear the listeners reactions to this letter, tune in to today’s episode and leave feedback on RSP’s social media platform.

Topic: Friends and Relationships
On today’s episode of RSP, the crew is joined by podcaster and blogger, K. Antoinette, a returning guest hostess and a new friend to the show. Before digging deeper into the topic of friendship, the men adamantly reject Nique’s reference of their closeness as a “bromance.” They discuss the types of friends: acquaintances, close friends, and best friends and how each connection is different. Yusuf finds himself in the hot seat, as the group attempts to analyze how he handles offenses from acquaintances vs offenses from close friends. “I find value in people (I’m close to) giving me advice,” he says. C.L. contends that we should be able to take sound advice and constructive criticism from anyone (not just close friends), especially if there is truth in it. When it comes to close friends, the men disagree that trust is a major qualifier. The women suggest that people should be able to trust their friends with their emotions. They charge that a man should be able to call his male friend if he needs to cry or express a negative emotion, to which the men unanimously respond, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Tune in to the show and be sure to jot down all the notes you want to share. The crew looks forward to reading your responses and reactions on their social media platforms.

Topic: Dating Difficulties
On today’s lunch date episode, K. Antoinette, the Blogger, joins the team to extend the conversation about dating challenges. In response to C.L.’s point that women share too much too soon, the ladies remind him that dating feels like an interview and men come with a list of questions. Yusuf, however, says that a simple question about a turkey sandwich can quickly evolve into a deeper, more personal convo. The crew also discusses the double standard that women are often judged for exercising sexual freedom and fluidity, while a man’s excessive sexual history is rarely questioned or deemed a red flag. “How do we progress beyond this,” our guest asks. Nique suggests that men should be more progressive in their thinking and Professor Tee contends that the conversations must start early with today’s children and youth. Be sure to listen and join in on the conversation; there is so much content packed in this 47-minute discussion.

Topic: Difficulties in Dating
On today’s episode of RSP, the crew is joined by K Antoinette the Blogger, founder of Let’s Build Futures, a service which provides mentoring and a space to have healthy dialogue on a variety of topics. Today’s conversation is about the common challenges millennials face when dating. Based on the generation cohorts’ birth years, Nique and K Antoinette would be considered millennials (Generation Y), while Professor Tee, Yusuf and CL are members of the Gen X pool. The crew discusses dating challenges that both groups can relate to, but much of the content highlights the vast differences between the two age groups. They discover that millennials are more likely to abandon some traditional dating concepts, like men paying for the first date. K Antoinette believes the biggest problem millennial daters face is lack of self-awareness, and Nique thinks the issue is millennials tend to wait for the next best thing. To hear how the dialogue expands to gender roles, alpha females, why women settle and thoughts on going dutch, tune in, and be willing to share your thoughts on any of the social media platforms.

Topic: Dear Nique Letter
On today’s lunch date episode, the team hosts their first ever live Dear Nique. Liz calls in to share her situation with the crew, in hopes of getting some advice. Currently, in her 5th month of pregnancy, Liz is appalled that her baby’s father not only thinks she’s a liar, but she also believes this once good man now shows signs of being a psychopath. Despite the two of them no longer being together, he pops up on her, makes outlandish accusations, and insults her character. “Why is he doing this,” is likely a question you’re currently asking yourself. Listen to this episode to find out why she thinks this man now treats her in such a way that is unfathomable. “Should I cut all ties and only reach out to him when I’m about to have the baby,” she wonders. While the team shares some similarities in their overall responses, it’s their individual analyses of the situation that offers much more depth than our caller ever imagined.

Topic: Love Bombing
On today’s episode of RSP, C.L. poses the question, “Have you ever been love-bombed?” A fairly new term, love-bombing is the practice of showering a person with excessive affection and attention in order to gain control, a behavior typically demonstrated by narcissists. During the conversation, Nique has a lightbulb moment. “This just happened to me,” she admits. C.L. is not surprised that she, or any of us, has been love-bombed. Unfortunately, it’s a common practice that often goes undetected. Yusuf shares his personal experience of being a victim of love-bombing, but he also admits that he’s done much of the things listed as examples. The conversation easily lends itself to a discussion about soulmates. “It’s not a thing,” C.L. retorts, but Nique definitely disagrees with that thought. This episode will have each listener wondering, “Have I been love-bombed?” or a person might even realize, “Oh wow! I think I might be a love-bomber.” Tune in, and let the team know if you have a personal experience with love bombing.

Topic: Dear Nique Letter
On this lunch date episode, two listeners join the show to share their insight on a Dear Nique letter from a writer who meets a seemingly chivalrous man in Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, he goes from chivalrous to frustrated within a 72-hour period. That frustration was demonstrated through him hanging up on the young lady after he didn’t get a response he expected or wanted. Guest listeners, Kelsie and Jenny, chime in to respond to the writer’s situation. Ultimately, both guests determine the young man demonstrated immaturity, selfishness, and a lack of emotional control. Nique agrees and strongly suggests that the woman should block him and move on. While the men agree that his behavior is outlandish, they challenge the women to consider an alternate approach. To find out what approach the gentleman suggests, listen to the episode to hear the diverse perspectives.
