As an SNES kid, I'm still a noob when it comes to the Sega Genesis library. I've played some GREAT games on the Genesis over the life of this show, and I'm happy to add Comix Zone to that list. Looks awesome. Great concept. And tough as fuck.
I say it all the time, but I love tough retro games. Just hearing the phrase 'NES tough' turns me on a little. And Comix Zone is along those lines. This might be the toughest Genesis game I've ever played, and I keep coming back for more.
I'm rolling solo this week, but I snuck a bunch of listener comments into the game review. If you've never played Comix Zone, I hope this convinces you to give it a shot. Don't let the difficulty scare you off. It's a beat 'em up, inside a comic book. And the protagonist looks like Egon. What else do you need???
And before I start reading comics, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro!
This week, someone asks what I would do it I had the green light to revive a dormant franchise in a new genre? Which IPs would make great tactical games?? And how do I manage my backlog??
Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Sega Genesis comic book games: The Adventures of Batman & Robin, Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage, and X-Men 2: Clone Wars.
