A few years ago, my wife and I toured Eastern Europe. This, "The Best of Eastern Europe" Tour was, including river cruises, our third with Grand Circle Travel; having done two since.  We started our tour in East Berlin, Germany and after a few days were on to Warsaw, Poland by train.  From Warsaw, the balance of our tour was by bus. Our next stop was Krakow, Poland.  After touring Krakow and the surrounding area, we then went to Prague, Czech Republic with a stop for lunch in Olomouc, Czech Republic.  Leaving Prague, after a short lunch stop in Bratislava, Slovakia, it was on to Budapest for the balance of our tour.

Why was my wife and my investment portfolio protected in a down market? On February 20, 2020 the stock market was near an all-time high. Because of the Cronavirus 19 (COVID-19), from February 20, 2020 to March 23, 2020 the average of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the NASDAQ and the S&P 500 was down about 33%. As I view our portfolio, it was down less than 1%!

A few years ago, we took a fourteen day Celebrity Classical Mediterranean Cruise between Barcelona, Spain and Venice, Italy. The cruise itself, the locations visited and the included and optional tours made for a fantastic cruise; our best ever!  On this trip we had the opportunity to visit the two smallest countries in the world; Monaca and Vatican City.

The itinerary for our cruise was:

Day 1: Flew from home to Barcelona, Spain

Day 2: We embarked the ship in Barcelona, Spain

Day 3: The ship was at sea for the day

Day 4: Docked in Nice, France where we visited Nice and Monte Carlo

Day 5: Docked in Livorno, Italy where we visited Pisa and Florence, Italy

Day 6: Docked in Civitavecchia, Italy where we spent two days in Rome

Day 7: Docked in Naples, Italy where we visited the Amalfi Coast, Salerno and Pompeii

Day 8: The ship was at sea for the day

Day 9: Piraeus, Greece where we visited Athens, Greece

Day 10: Istanbul, Turkey where we spent two days in Istanbul

Day 11: Mykonos, Greece where we spent a day on Mykonos and took a cruise to the island of Delos

Day 12: The ship was at sea for the day

Day 13: Split, Croatia where we spent the day in Old Town Croatia and the market

Day 14: Venice, Italy where disembarked the ship and flew home

For the last twenty-four years, my wife and I have been retired; allowing time for travel. Over those years, we traveled the USA and Canada in two motor homes that we owned, owned a time share, spent time at resorts including all-inclusive, taken numerous ocean cruises, taken a few river cruises, taken many land tours and combination ocean cruises and land tours, and have traveled around foreign countries on our own.

In this video we will share our travel experience and our recommendations for senior travel.

This is the final podcast about our New Zealand and Australia trip. These last few days were spent in Sydney along with a visit to the Blue Mountains. In this video I describe our wonderful activities in Sydney and our really interesting tour into the Blue Mountains.

Our visit to both Australia and New Zealand were wonderful. Kangaroo Island was our most special day in Australia and one of our best days of our trip. In this video I describe our activities and experiences on Kangaroo Island.

Train rides through fabulous terrain, a jet boat ride over rapids, a ride into a canyon on the most dangerous road I have ever been on, a lunch cruise on Milford Sound in the rain, a 1912 steam ship ride and dinner and much more were awaiting us.

This was our "19 Day New Zealand Rail, Cruise and Coach Holiday" tour in New Zealand. It was an absolutely great tour with sociable, fun traveling companions. In this video I share our experiences on the South Island. Future videos will cover Australia and Australia's Kangaroo Island.
