  • EP 15: Confessions of a Compliant Woman

It's just us again, my loves!

I'm back for my first solo episode since the Episode #11: This Might Get Me Cancelled. I'm glad to say that the feedback on that episode has been so overwhelmingly positive and this makes me excited to continue to connect with you over dissident thoughts and unpopular opinions.

In today's episode, we're going to be talking about the "compliant woman" - the less infantilizing, more self responsibilizing (I love making up words) way that I am going to be referring to the "good girl" archetype going forward.

    In this episode, I share:

    • What exactly is the "compliant woman" and where I believe she originates from (sneak peek: I get a little controversial here, criticizing a manifestation of mainstream feminism)
    • The 5 main patterns of the "compliant woman" that I have identified, while going deep into the most common pattern, self silencing
    • Why self silencing is so common and how it stems from our discomfort with being disliked, disagreed with or labeled, while also being overly responsible for other people's feelings
    • Why self-responsibility is KEY to feminine freedom and how no one else can speak your words but you
    • Plus I share about a powerful workshop, Embody Your Feminine Freedom, that I am hosting on Wednesday June 16th at 7pm ET (link to sign up below)

*Lauren's experience growing up in Evangelical Purity Culture and how that shaped her relationship to her body and sexuality

*How she uses pleasure to support her clients in their healing experience

*How we can begin to reclaim pleasure and our bodies

    *Reconnecting to innocence

*Exploring the connection between the vaginal canal and the throat and how that supports reclaiming your voice

  • EP 13: Fundamentalism + The Nervous System with Lindsey Lockett

Lindsey Lockett is back for Part 2! In this week's episode, we're talking about:

    1. Her recent induction into Pastel Qanon (aka- a powerful example of how cancel culture and misrepresentation has impacted Lindsey and other people who are actively speaking out against these harmful ideologies)
    2. How growing up in fundamentalist religion primes your nervous system to feel most safe in a binary and how to expand your capacity for complexity and sitting with the unknown
    3. The power of thinking for yourself and self inquiry

  • EP 12: The Intersection Of Diet Culture, Purity Culture + Cancel Culture with Lindsey Lockett

In this week's episode, I'm chatting with Lindsey Lockett. We discuss the intersection of diet culture, purity culture and cancel culture and how subscribing to rigid ideologies separates us from our own inner authority.

    We discuss:

    • How religious programming plays a role in priming us for black and white thinking
    • The very real nervous system response that happens when you're attacked online
    • Depathologizing defensiveness
    • The characteristics of cult thinking that show up in diet culture, fundamentalist religion and identity politics
    • Becoming your own moral authority

We had so much to discuss that there will be a part 2 coming out in 2 weeks!

  • EP 11: This Might Get Me Cancelled, A Manifesto

In this week’s episode, I said the thing. Things that had been sitting in my throat, festering for far too long. Things that might get me labeled, called out or cancelled.

But I’ve realized that living in fear of cancellation doesn’t actually serve anyone. It doesn’t serve you, me, clients, friends, community or the world at large.

Cancellation, whether experienced directly or living in fear of it, perpetuates objectification. It reduces human beings into objects that should always display purity and perfection instead of acknowledging that we are all complex, nuanced, messy, dynamic, miraculous human beings.

In this episode I talk about:

    • An experience that happened in December that led me to want to share this episode to begin with
    • How religious trauma plays a role in self silencing and the suppression of authenticity
    • The importance of the freedom of speech and expression
    • How human beings are not ideologies
    • Some of my own beliefs and how I continue to allow myself to grow and evolve

Plus I laid out my values statement for my business and the agreements I’m making to myself and you going forward to say the thing.

  • EP 10: Body Image Healing + Shedding Identities with Sarah Menlove

In today's episode, I'm interviewing Certified Mastery Coach, Sarah Menlove. Sarah is a dear friend and former client who I've witnessed go through incredible growth to return to her wholeness time and time again. In this episode, we talked about the grief she experienced shedding old identities (such as athlete and religious) but how going through those experiences allowed her to come home to herself and her divinity. It's a rich conversation where we talk about how body image intersects with spirituality and the necessity of allowing ourselves to experience the full breadth of our emotions.

Today's episode is just me and you! I'll be sharing about a profound and synergistic moment that happened for more during the Full Moon in Pisces at the end of February. Hint: It has to do with a Fleetwood Mac song and I might sing a little in the episode.

I'll share how this moment invited me into a deeper understanding of wholeness and how I'm here to tell the truth about myself and invite others to do the same.

Welcome to Return to Wholeness, a podcast for women who previously believed in dogma; whether that’s religion, diets or ideology, who found that they needed to fragment themselves and live into the expectations of others in order to feel safe in that environment and truly belong.
