  • Barry Miller: The Missing Manna Moment, part 1

Are we living in unprecedented times? It may seem that way, and perhaps the difficult economic, political, social, and spiritual circumstances are unprecedented in some ways. Maybe it’s safe to say that most of us are revising our definition of “hard times” as we endure inflation, social unrest, shortages, and more at levels we haven’t seen in our lifetimes. So how are the people of God to live in these trying times?

That’s a question Barry Miller has considered for half of his life. In 2015, he shared his thoughts in his book, Know the Time, Change Your World: The Reappearance of the Seven- and Fifty-Year Cycles. As a student of the Bible and a successful entrepreneur, Barry began to see recurring patterns of economic downturn and recovery that seem to correlate with the seven year Shemitah (Sabbatical) and the fifty year Yovel (Jubilee) cycles explained in Leviticus 25 and elsewhere in the Torah. In 2022, Barry published some additional thoughts in a blog post entitled, “The Missing Manna Moment.” What exactly does that mean, and how does it help us cope with the cost of gasoline and food? You may be surprised at what Barry has to say about that in this three-part interview!

Of course, there is no such thing as a “free lunch.” Everything we do comes with a price. Barry Phillips and David Jones look at that from a biblical perspective in their midrash called, “Paying Prices” – a message illuminated by the music of Lenny and Varda and Solomon Lopez.

  • Kennedy Rios & Susie Boyle: Learning to Be A Kingdom Kid, part 2

Everyone is a statistic. It would be best if we were all “good” statistics, meaning law-abiding, God-fearing citizens contributing to their families and communities in positive ways. However, we all fall into the category of “bad” statistics at some point in our lives, and some people never leave that category. Why is that?

In this concluding segment of our visit with Kennedy Rios and Susie Boyle, we probe into that question. Kennedy is working hard to achieve the dreams she has found for her life, but that’s not always the case for people who have come through the challenges she and her siblings have faced. What has made the difference? Kennedy offers some observations from her experience that shed light on that question.

The music of Jimmie Black and Rut Banks powerfully illustrates the life lessons we hear from Kennedy, and from Barry Phillips and David Jones. They examine the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives in a midrash they call “Let the Wind Blow Gideon.”

  • Kennedy Rios & Susie Boyle: Learning to Be A Kingdom Kid, part 1

Did you ever wonder how many children in your neighborhood might be in need of help? There are probably quite a few, signaling their needs in ways even they don’t understand. It takes some attention, compassion, and discernment to identify those signals, and then it takes courage, love, and patience, to offer help.

We heard about this in a previous Reunion Roadmap interview with Susie Boyle, Outreach Director with Fostering the Family in South Carolina. Now we have the blessing of hearing from the child Susie and her family helped. Kennedy Rios is all grown up now and pursuing a promising future in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. She’s got quite a story to tell of overcoming obstacles just to connect with the gifted, strong woman God made her to be. We get to hear some of that story in this two-part interview!

Kennedy’s story provides a powerful introduction to the discussion Barry Phillips and David Jones call “Pray.” If the prayers of our parents and grandparents have made a difference for good in our lives, what kind of difference are we making in the lives of our children and grandchildren? Will Spires and Teshuva help us process that question with their musical offerings.

  • Barbara Foerster: A Good Report from the Promised Land, part 2

How should we pray for Israel? Given the constant turmoil in the Holy Land, what should be the focus of our intercession?

That’s a question we asked Barbara Foerster during our conversation about her recent visit to Israel. This latest sojourn of five weeks in the Blessed Land covered Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, as well as many interactions with new and old friends and Israelis of many different backgrounds. As you might expect, Barbara’s intimate knowledge of the land and people of Israel, and her heart of faith in Israel’s God, fill her answers with wisdom!

Our focus on Israel continues through the music of Teshuva and Mason Clover, and in the concluding segment of the midrash Barry Phillips and David Jones call, “Home.”

  • Barbara Foerster: A Good Report from the Promised Land, part 1

When was the last time you visited Israel?

What? You’ve never been to the Promised Land? Well, then, maybe you need some incentive to go! Barbara Foerster can help with that. Her recent sojourn in Israel was her first since the Covid pandemic severely restricted international travel. Barbara is no stranger to the Blessed Land, having traveled there so many times  that she now regards Israel as home. She speaks so fondly of that home in this two-part interview that you will be inspired to go there and see for yourself the miracle of Israel!

“Home” is the theme of this show, as we hear in the midrash from Barry Phillips and David Jones in which they look into what scripture says about the eternal home of Yeshua’s people. We also enjoy music about our eternal home through the artistry of House of Aaron and Teshuva.

  • Jeff Apthorp: In the Business of Gathering, part 3

A good way to bring people together is to emphasize things they share (especially if it’s a common identity). That way, offenses can be minimized even as truth is upheld and relationships are formed and strengthened. This doesn’t mean 100% agreement on all things, but it does help promote unity in diversity.

Jeff Apthorp had this in mind when he started I Will Gather You Radio as a ministry of Founded in Truth Fellowship. As he explains in this concluding segment of our conversation, the people of the God of Abraham, Isaac, share much in common, as is evident in the way they praise Him. That’s why I Will Gather You features a wide range of worship music, from ancient Christian hymns to contemporary Christian, Messianic, Hebraic, and Jewish songs of praise.

The beauty in this diversity is in the many ways God’s people seek to draw near to Him. There are proper ways to do this, of course, as Barry Phillips and David Jones discuss in their midrash called, “Following and Drawing Near.” Eved Adonai and the Aleph Tav Band sing about this in the special music punctuating this edition of Reunion Roadmap.

  • Jeff Apthorp: In the Business of Gathering, part 2

When Jeff Apthorp began to examine what the scripture says about the importance of God’s Torah, one theme kept coming to his attention: the pervasive promise of our Redeeming God to regather the dispersed remnant of Israel and all those joined to them. That theme inspired Jeff to create I Will Gather You Radio as a ministry of Founded in Truth Fellowship. He shares that inspiration with us in this second of our three-part visit with him.

The promise to regather all Israel is part of the covenant God initiated with Abraham, and renewed with subsequent generations of Hebrews. This is much more than a contract specifying the obligations and rewards for each party, as Barry Phillips and David Jones explain in their midrash called, “Contract or Covenant?” Entering into this covenant is a life-transforming journey, as we hear in the music of Jimmie Black and BIll Green .

  • Jeff Apthorp: In the Business of Gathering, part 1

Jeff Apthorp has been in the business of gathering people since his teenage years. That’s what brought him into a career in Christian radio, where he built and maintained networks that broadcast the good news of redemption in Messiah Yeshua across the globe. Now that he’s retired, he continues to pursue that passion with the inspiration of our Creator’s promise to gather and restore all of Messiah’s kingdom. That’s the vision behind I Will Gather You Radio, a new internet station Jeff has launched a a ministry of Founded in Truth Fellowship. How that vision developed is the subject of our three-part interview with Jeff.

Will Spires and Solomon Lopez share that same vision of Israel’s complete regathering. They’ve been writing music about it for years, as you’ll hear in the songs they share on this program. Then Barry Phillips and David Jones share another perspective on the subject in their midrash on Metzora, which they call, “Examining Ourselves.”

  • Susie Boyle: Guardian of our Future, part 2

What are the odds a child in the foster system will ever go to college? Susie Boyle gives that and many more answers to questions about the most vulnerable members of our communities, and about how to make a difference for good in their lives. That is what she does as the Director of Outreach and Partnerships for Fostering the Family, a Christian non-profit dedicated to igniting igniting churches and communities to support foster and adoptive families, and as a guardian ad litem for foster children in South Carolina. In this concluding part of our visit with Susie, she talks about ways everyone can get involved and change the trajectory of children who are in danger of perpetuating a cycle of poverty, abuse, and neglect.

Helping foster kids and their families takes much love and sacrifice. That’s biblical, of course, as Barry Phillips and David Jones discuss in their midrash on Romans 1`2:1-2, and as Melody Joy and Solomon Lopez explain in their music.

  • Susie Boyle: Guardian of our Future, part 1

Do you know there are ways to help foster children without being a foster parent? This often comes as a surprise when people first hear about the foster system and begin asking how to get involved. Susie Boyle learned that when she and her family encountered children in need right next door in their neighborhood in Detroit. That’s what started her on a journey to make a difference for these vulnerable children and their communities. Now she is a guardian ad litem, serving as a volunteer advocate for foster children in South Carolina, and is the Director of Outreach and Partnerships for Fostering the Family, a Christian non-profit dedicated to igniting igniting churches and communities to support foster and adoptive families.

Teshuva and Rut Banks share their musical talents in this episode in songs that resonate with the needs of foster children. They may start out with every disadvantage, but there is still hope that they will finish well, as Barry Phillips and David Jones discuss in their midrash, appropriately titled, “Finish.”
