  • Hayley Chase: Stilled Spirits, part 2

Do we have room in the Body of Messiah for people who sorrow and hurt? We say we do, but what do we learn when we ask some probing questions about our interaction with those who are walking through a lifetime of chronic pain?

These are the questions we explore with Hayley Chase. The answers often are not encouraging – not because we intentionally exclude those with mental chronic physical health challenges, but because we’re simply not equipped to notice their challenges, nor help them endure and overcome.

This second part of our three-part interview with Hayley introduces a conversation between Barry Phillips and David Jones about adjusting our lives to our Creator’s Plumb Line of Righteousness. Barry and the Aleph Tav Band provide the musical emphasis in this show that investigates some of the practical considerations of living as disciples of Messiah Yeshua.

Check out Stilled Spirits, the Facebook group Hayley hosts that is “meant to be a place where we can share our hearts with honesty.” Stilled Spirits is designed primarily for women who struggle with depression and/or anxiety, but others are welcome.

  • Hayley Chase: Stilled Spirits, part 1

What’s the connection between a mental disorder and a chronic illness? It’s a much closer connection than you may think. For one thing, both are conditions that stay with a person indefinitely – meaning there’s no foreseeable end point at which the sufferer can say, “I’m cured.”

Hayley Chase has experience with this kind of persistent challenge. Over the next three shows, she will share her story about wrestling with mental health issues from childhood. The challenges she has faced come not only from within, but also from people around her who haven’t understood how to come alongside her and help, and quite often end up unintentionally making things more difficult.

This is a difficult topic, but one that impacts all of us. The people of God should be the first to come around our suffering brothers and sisters, and that’s why Hayley is sharing her story!

This is a story of hope, and that’s exactly what Barry Phillips and David Jones discuss in their midrash. As they explain, our hope is linked with faith, which is not just belief, but a call to action! They are joined by Teshuva and Will Spires, who bring musical messages of hope.

  • Samuel Wearp: Nations’ 9th of Av 2021, part 3

What is a greater act of faith – interacting only with those who agree with us at every point, or stepping out of our comfort zone to interact with those who are different from us in many ways? What if the point of our interaction is not to bring those people to see and accept our point of view, but simply to get to know them and see where our God might take the relationship?

These are hard questions Samuel Wearp has considered has he and his family have developed deep relationships with their Jewish Israeli friends. It’s a walk of faith that the Wearp family has navigated by their involvement with Blessed Buy Israel and the Nations’ 9th of Av. Samuel shares a bit about where that walk has led them in this concluding portion of our conversation with him.

Barry Phillips and David Jones address the topic of walking out our faith in their midrash, “Inside-Out Faith,” a topic Melody Joy and Will Spires investigate in their introspective and uplifting music.

  • Samuel Wearp: Nations’ 9th of Av 2021, part 2

What could the church gain from connecting with the Jewish people in a positive way? What has the church lost over the centuries by not doing so? These are questions Samuel Wearp covers in this second of our three-part interview with him. He should know. As a key part of his family’s ministry, Blessed Buy Israel, and of the Nations’ 9th of Av, Samuel has had opportunity to develop lasting friendships with Jewish Israelis, and to experience tremendous blessing through those relationships. Along the way, he has learned much of what the Bible says about the central place Israel occupies in God’s redemptive plans.

The music of Teshuva highlights the messages brought by Samuel and by Barry Phillips and David Jones in their midrash, “Honesty or Truth.”

  • Samuel Wearp: Nations’ 9th of Av 2021, part 1

Samuel Wearp has worked his entire life to connect the two parts of God’s covenant family. That’s not a long time in years, but an impressive accomplishment nonetheless! The Wearp family is embarked on a calling to connect with and support the Jewish people and the state of Israel. That’s the purpose of their family business and ministry, Blessed Buy Israel, and of their involvement with the Nations’ 9th of Av. Samuel is living out his passion to see Christians and Jews come together in peace and mutual respect based on their shared allegiance to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and their faithful expectation of His restoration of all Israel and redemption of all nations in the Messianic Kingdom. In this first segment of a three-part interview, Samuel talks about the most recent Nations 9th of Av observance of the Fast of the 5th Month (the ninth of Av), and what has motivated him to play a significant role in this initiative to deal with the tragic history of Christians and Jews, and to make a difference for good for the future.

Samuel emphasizes the theme of repentance, or “teshuva,” in what he shares. That’s the topic of the midrash by Barry Phillips and David Jones. Teshuva is also the subject of our musical presentations, delivered, appropriately, by the band, Teshuva.

  • The Ebenezer Home Update, part 2

Stepping out in faith applies at all stages of life. This is something we learn from David Phillips and Samantha LaGoy as they relate the very big step of faith the Ebenezer Home is taking to expand their care for the elderly saints who make their residence at this special place in Haifa, Israel. It’s more than a matter of simply believing what God says, but acting on that belief as a participant in the Almighty’s Covenant.

What our guests share in this show is an example of “Reciprocity of Covenant,” the topic our Elders David Jones and Barry Phillips discuss. It’s also an aspect of our identity in Messiah Yeshua, which we hear in the music of Eved Adonai and Jimmie Black.

  • The Ebenezer Home Update, part 1

How do we carry out God’s command to honor our parents when they reach their elder years? David Phillips and Samantha LaGoy share how that commandment is carried out at the Ebenezer Home, Israel’s only residence for elderly followers of Yeshua. In this two-part interview, they share how the Ebenezer Home has continued to meet Covid pandemic has continued to meet the needs of residents and their families even in the Covid pandemic, and their great expectations for the future.

The music of House of Aaron and Solomon Lopez highlight the topics covered in this show from our visit with David and Samantha as well as the midrash from David Jones and Barry Phillips which they call, “Kingdom People Kingdom Benefit.”

  • Rut Banks: Velvety Vocalist, part 3

The scripture says the Kingdom of our Messiah will be populated by people redeemed from every tribe and tongue and nation (Revelation 5:9, 7:9). What exactly does that look like? And is it possible to achieve such Kingdom diversity now? That’s one topic that comes up in our conversation with Velvety Vocalist Rut Banks as we hear her thoughts on the identity of those redeemed into the covenant nation of Israel.

This show includes two special songs by Rut, and then midrash by our Elders Barry Phillips and David Jones called “Vision or Sight” in which they talk about what Rut and her family are living: walking in the promises of the Almighty even when that way ahead is not clear.

  • Rut Banks: Velvety Vocalist, part 2

Life can be complicated and difficult. That’s why it’s essential to know who we are, and Whose we are!

If you want to know how Velvety Vocalist Rut Banks answers those questions, just listen to her story! We learn a lot about her in this second part of our three-part visit with her. Knowing who she is in her Creator has helped her through both the rough patches and the joys of life, and brought her the point where she can now share this testimony in song.

Our musical segments investigate these same questions, starting with an original song by Rut, and then a familiar exhortation from the Psalms by Eved Adonai. Barry Phillips and David Jones carry the theme of this show even further with their conversation about the question, “Who Do You Say I Am?”

  • Rut Banks: Velvety Vocalist, part 1

Music is an expression of our hearts – of our experiences, joys, sorrows, hopes, dreams, and all that makes us who we are. Velvety Vocalist Rut Banks understands this very well. That’s why her music is so fresh and deep. If we want to know who she is, we start with her songs, because her life story is right there in what she sings!

In this three-part conversation, Rut shares with us what has shaped her life story. Her roots go deep, from Nashville, where she lives with her husband Michael and their children, to St. Louis where she grew up, and back through time and space to Africa, where her Hebraic ancestors faithfully carried the covenant knowledge of their identity in Yah.

This is a podcast about identity, which is the story we hear in song from Rut and from Mason Clover. As Barry Phillips and David Jones explain, it is from this identity that we become channels of Living Water.

To hear Rut’s music, visit her YouTube channel at, https://www.youtube.com/@RutBanks.
