Some people think that they can meditate, go into nature and commune, or repeat some mantras, which makes them spiritual.  Yet, it’s impossible to be spiritual without faith in Christ. Your fleshly, sinful nature ruins anything you do.  Pastor John will explain today that when you believe in Jesus, you’re reborn or made new by the Holy Spirit.   That’s what makes you spiritual!  This spirit in you then produces true spiritual practices and behaviors in your life instead of the sinful behaviors of the flesh.

Men sought Jesus out because He had demonstrated amazing power and might through all the miracles He had done.  They believed in Him, but it was a superficial belief.  They wanted God to fix all their needs, but didn’t recognize their greatest need.  Today, Pastor John will explain that your sin separates you from God and salvation.  And you’re unable to save yourself through any means on your own.  Your greatest need is to be made new, to be given life, and to be saved. God, though a God of righteous judgment, is very much a God of grace.  He offers warnings and opportunity after opportunity to repent and choose Him.  He wrote on the wall and warned King Belshazzar about the coming judgment.  God would’ve spared him his judgement as He did for his grandfather had the king confessed and repented.   God has the same grace for you too.  Pastor John will encourage you to hear the voice and call of God and turn to Him in repentance of your sins today.

Debauchery, drunkenness, sensual pleasures, mockery of God.  These were all aspects of the last night of the king of Babylon.  He partied and drank and ridiculed the Lord.  And, because of his sin, God brought warning and retribution to this evil king.  And, as Pastor John teaches today, our nation is much the same as the nation of sinful Babylon.  And, as this story demonstrates, there’s a last night for every person, and every nation.  We must place our faith in God and heed His warnings before it’s too late!

When a hint of a storm is brewing, it’s common to want it to go away instantly.  Yet, all too often, storms brew and grow and sometimes become great trouble before God rescues you from that storm.  You’re fighting, striving, and working with all your might and strength before surrendering your storm to God.  As Pastor John explains today, God may allow you to get to the end of yourself and exhaust all of your worldly strengths.  He wants you to come to Him first and trust Him no matter what!

The night of the original Passover was a demonstration of God’s judgment against sin.  And His own people, the Hebrews, were also guilty of sin. Everyone is.  But, as Pastor John will teach you today, His people heard His warning of judgment and recognized their need for deliverance from it.  They obediently spread blood from a sacrificial lamb on their doorpost to be safe from judgement.  They had faith in God and were forgiven.  Today, Christ offers that same forgiveness from His sacrifice of blood for your sins.

Evil and sin are often ignored, tolerated, and even celebrated in the world.  And, too often, even the church holds these views as well.  But, as Pastor John teaches today, God cannot tolerate sin because of His Holiness and Righteousness.  And many times throughout history, He has judged and punished cultures because they celebrated sinfulness.  This is what happened to Egypt when God freed His people from slavery.  They had warnings of upcoming judgment yet showed no repentance.  Take sin seriously!
