Revolve One

Rudy and Crystal share how they regularly check in on each other’s mental well-being. With May being Mental Health awareness month, when was the last time you checked in on yourself? Or maybe checked up on those closest to you? Maybe this is a good time to pause and do a self-check in, and perhaps even a time to reach out to someone you care for.

In this special episode, we sat down with the matriarch herself, Lilia Garcia, to honor her on Mother's Day. Crystal presents her original piece, "Ode To Mom", to show our appreciation for our wonderful Mother. If you enjoy a good ode or simply love heartwarming moments, then this sweet episode is one you will not want to miss!

At Revolve One, we believe it's only fitting to surprise mom with a poetry reading as our special way of saying—thank you for being you.

Have you ever thought about selling art, an original product, or service in the Coastal Bend area? Well, if you have...we definitely understand it's hard to know where to start! Thankfully, El Local Collective is a locally led organization that could help to showcase your original artwork or special skill set.

In this episode, we talked with Samantha Chamberlain who is the creator and mastermind behind El Local Collective as she discusses its inception along with its incredible growth. Samantha, perhaps better known as Sam, shares El Local Collective's mission:

"Get as many people around us to believe in themselves to the fullest extent."

As content creators and art enthusiasts ourselves, we know just how important it is to know others are rooting for you. El Local Collective even goes beyond that to promote your creative works and what you do within our local community. Whether you're a struggling artist, rising entrepreneur, or simply have a story to share, reach out to El Local Collective because they believe in you and so do we.

Whenever we can talk about poetry, art, and creatively collaborating, we're over the moon! In this episode, we speak with the Editors and Faculty Advisor of Volume 18 of The Windward Review: Civility and You.

Dr. Robin Carstensen, the Faculty Advisor, gives us some insight into their humble beginnings as well as evolution throughout the years. Dylan Lopez, the Managing Editor, shares what creative works are accepted for consideration and gives a glimpse into their submission process. Zoe Ramos, the Senior Editor, tells us more about their unique reviewing process that focuses on empathetic, "humanistic editing" and why it's so important to them.

As fellow creatives, we are honored we could learn more about The Windward Review through this enlightening conversation with its creators, editors, and contributors.

Ever since he was a kid, Ethan Flores always had an innate love for music. In fact when most grade school kids are focusing on their classes and making friends—this cool kid was already learning how to use turntables!

Nowadays, our friend Ethan is better known as DJ Weasel and he plays and produces music such as house, LO-FI, tejano, and everything in between.

It's apparent DJ Weasel has a bright future ahead with such a clear vision of what he wants to do (or rather keep doing).

You can usually catch him streaming on Twitch on Thursday evenings, at a club or bar ensuring the music is bumping, or you can even book him for a special occasion or party.

Have you ever thought about what your near future may hold? Ever been curious about what your sun sign along what other signs predominant in your natal chart could mean for you?

Perhaps you've just always wanted your cards read although have been hesitant to do so...until now. Well if you are a resident of South Texas, then you are in luck as we have our very own local Bruja—better known as La Brujita!

In this special episode, we dive into how Taylor (La Brujita herself) became interested in astrology and all things mystical, the planetary transits for the upcoming months, and how others can connect with her.

Sometimes we need to read a book to better understand something. However, at times we simply need our local Brujita to read our cards or natal chart to possibly better understand ourselves instead! Also if you are not a South Texas resident, do not fret as La Brujita is available to be booked for online readings and even has magical products available through her online shop as well.

A local web series emerged out of all of the collective uncertainty that was 2020. YIKES, a YouTube web series, created by Cris Olvera, Ricky Martinez, and Ryan Monroy, has gained a lot of traction here in South Texas ever since it's debut episode was released in late October 2020.

More specifically, our hometown of Corpus Christi is officially the Land of YIKES and perhaps this is why we are smiling a little wider lately as current residents! This incredibly relevant web series explores the fictional shortcomings and adventures of roommates, Ryan and Ricky. That is just the beginning of YIKES so be sure to listen to this episode as we get the story of how, what and why this rising series has captivated so many hearts, minds and don’t forget the most awkward laughs ever. ;)

Finally after fans created a movement unlike anything ever seen in modern day fandom, the famed Snyder cut of the Justice League arrives on HBO Max this week. In this episode we discuss what the Snyder cut is, how it came to be and the impact that it has had not only pop culture but in raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.

In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

In today’s episode we chat with the founder of the Instagram (IG) account, @thenuecescountyvoter-Brittni Young. Young explains how the early stages of the lockdown and pandemic forced her to remain in CC, TX. This led to her starting the platform on Instagram with nearly 300 followers and an influence that goes way beyond the Instagram platform.

Enjoy this conversation with Brittni. We discuss this IG account and how it has helped many to  better understand why we vote, how to vote, where to vote and other civic matters that impact our lives daily.
