Today on Richmond's Morning News, we talk about local and national issues alike -- including VMSDEP, skill games, the 2024 Presidential Campaign, and a key Supreme Court ruling. Enjoy!
In our final hour, John discusses how to win over more -- and particularly younger -- people who are inclined to favor statism. He also reacts to text messages that you have sent in to our Chronic Care of Richmond Textline. Finally, we close the show with the latest "Giving Tuesday" segment.
Our final guest this Tuesday morning, for the latest installment of "Giving Tuesday," is the Virginia War Memorial's Ben King -- who talks to John about its Hill of Heroes Commemoration, starting this week.
In our third hour, John welcomes CBS6's Jon Burkett and gun rights advocate Philip Van Cleave to the show, talking to Jon about crime in the news and to Philip about a recent Supreme Court, Second Amendment-related ruling. John also checks in with Greer Financial's Michael Greer for his daily market update.
Next, in our 8:30 half hour, we hear from the Virginia Citizens Defense League's Philip Van Cleave -- who talks to John about last week's 8-1 Supreme Court ruling (with Clarence Thomas dissenting) that upheld barring domestic violence suspects from possessing guns. What Philip tells John is that the ruling wasn't as broad as purported and may have actually been a strike against so-called "reg flag" policies.
Atop the 8 o'clock hour, we check in with friend of the show -- and now Emmy-winner, Jon Burkett, CBS6's Crime Insider. John and Jon discuss the latest news stories about crime in and around the Richmond area, with Jon sharing some additional details about two violent crimes that occurred in the West End recently.
In our second hour, John talks to Delegate Mark Earley Jr. (about VMSDEP and skill games policy), as well as Trump 2024 spokeswoman Caroline Sunshine, who discusses the forthcoming Trump/Biden debate, President Trump's Tidewater rally scheduled for Friday, and the GOP Veepstakes.
Next up, in our 7:30 half hour, John talks to Trump 2024 Deputy Director of Communications Caroline Sunshine. Living up to that name, Caroline effervescently discusses the forthcoming Presidential Debate this Thursday, President Trump's rall in Chesapeake this Friday, and the prospect of a Trump-Youngkin GOP ticket.
First among our guests this AM, atop the 7 o'clock hour, is House of Delegates member Mark Earley Jr. John and Delegate Earley discuss a pair of pertinent legislative topics: VMSDEP and convenience store skills games.
Happy Tuesday, listening fam! In our first hour this AM, John questions whether Richmond, at this point, is the tourist destination that CNN has just reported the city to be. Also, John discusses the recent violence outside of an L.A. synagogue, asserting that America should have a zero-tolerance policy toward Anti-Semitism.
