In the wake of a decision from Henrico's Board of Supervisors to suspend police response to certain resident complaints, former Board member Tommy Branin joins John to express his dismay about the announcement.
Next up this Thursday is Richmond Times-Dispatch reporter Jeff Schapiro, who talks to John about Governor Youngkin's approach to assessing the Democrats' bills from the General Assembly session, as well as the degree to which the lingering effects of the pandemic represent a new normal in Central Virginia (and the city of Richmond in particular).
"Friday Eve" is here! To start with on this Thursday morning, and in the wake of another successful Politics & Pints, we check in with former State Senator Amanda Chase, who helped to orchestrate a change in county GOP leadership this week in Chesterfield. Meanwhile, Senator Chase is facing a misdemeanor charge for assault and battery -- and she addresses the matter with John, asserting that she is completely innocent, that corroborating witnesses will defend her, and that the charge constitutes political revenge/lawfare.
Finally this AM, we hear from James River Air's Hugh Joyce. With his preferred candidate (Nikki Haley) out of the Presidential race, Hugh shares his thoughts about the campaign with John -- and forecasts whether changes to party tickets and third party candidates may have an impact on the ultimate outcome. Given Hugh's line of work, he also addresses nuclear energy as a means by which to accommodate consumer demand upon the nation's power grid.
Atop the 8 o'clock hour this Wednesday morning, former Virginia Governor and European Ambassador Jim Gilmore calls in to the show -- a day early this week because of forthcoming travel to Lithuania (a trip that he and John converse about during the segment).
With the Virginia legislature still grappling with a (balanced) budget and Governor Youngkin wading through hundreds of Democrat-passed bills, State Senator and Minority Leader Ryan McDougle rejoins the program, to chat with John about the process that still lies ahead for the Commonwealth's elected officials/leaders.
Hump Day has arrived this week! (More important for us here at WRVA , it's also Politics & Pints Day!!!) On the heels of the announcement of Broadway in Richmond's 2024-2025 schedule, the delightful Cindy Creasy joins us atop the 7 o'clock hour this AM, to talk to John about the various plays that will be headed our way in the next 12 months.
At the bottom of the 8 o'clock hour, we welcome the Virginia Director of Americans for Prosperity, CJ Sailor. John and CJ discuss the rising costs that have come during the Biden Administration's tenure, as well as the effects of those costs on consumers and businesses.
Following Henrico's announcement that police will stop responding to certain citizen complaints/calls (including shoplifting!), we hear from CBS 6 Crime Insider Jon Burkett -- who also talks about the recent shooting in Brandermill (Chesterfield's first recorded murder of the calendar year).
Also: Jon reports that police are looking for a missing 11-year-old girl in the Rockwood Park area. (Here is the story.) If you have any information, please contact local authorities at (804) 748-1251.
Next up this Tuesday morning is "Washington Insider" Don Bramer, of The Bramer Group. John and Don discuss the humanitarian crises in both Haiti and Israel -- as well as the succession plan for Republican leadership in the U.S. Senate. (Like departing leader Mitch McConnell, Don is a Kentuckian.)
