Advent (Ad·​vent | \ˈad-ˌvent, the arrival of an important person or thing) is the four-week season leading up to Christmas where we anticipate the coming of Jesus, full of excitement and hope. This is an incredible opportunity we have each year for a powerful encounter with Jesus. We can take a step back and remember the fact that God became one of us to rescue all of us.

The foundation for being thankful is the rock solid assurance that your Heavenly Father is good and loving. When you realize this, it changes your outlook on everything.

We live in an entitled culture. “I deserve it!” is the mantra of the victim class. Although we were once victims of sin and death, we now belong to a new class called of victors and our mantra is, “Thanks, Dad!”

In today’s culture, being thankful is like a salmon swimming upstream, but it makes you strong and gets you to the place where dreams are born!

Obedience is a dirty word in our highly individualistic culture. We are convinced that we don’t have to obey anyone but ourselves. In fact, expecting blind obedience is a sure-fire way to push people away and create an environment of resentment. The good news is that Jesus never demanded people obey Him. Instead, He invited us to follow Him. We are accepted and loved because of His obedience, not ours. Knowing this makes all the difference because we want to obey from our heart instead of having to obey from our will. This is when the blessings of obedience will transform every area of your life.

Every day, innocent people are beaten, raped, and abused as slaves. There are over 40 million slaves globally. That’s more than ever before in human history. Slavery is now a multibillion-dollar industry. Human trafficking generates $150B annually. Slave owners prey on the poor and weak. 1 in 4 victims of forced labor is a child.
