Rob Moore: A Relentless Positive Impact

Listen Later

Rob Moore is a successful online entrepreneur, investor, author, and media personality. His mission, through his foundation, is to help enrich the lives of children so that they can grow to have a positive impact on the world. In this episode, Rob shares how he was able to take negative experiences from his upbringing and channel them into bringing value to the world.

What we discuss in this episode:

  • Every person on earth has within them a set of uncommon personality traits and attributes that, if recognized, have the power to do whatever they want to do in life.
  • We each have a hierarchy of values and abilities. Otherwise, nobody would need anyone else.
  • It's so important for each of us to understand that there is uniqueness in each of us, and it's our job to figure out what that is for ourselves.
  • You can hold a mirror to your flaws, but perhaps in that context, they can become a strength. For example, Rob has to continually reset his belief in himself. Just because there were wins in the past doesn't mean the next thing is guaranteed to be a win.
  • David has been blessed to work with some amazing people, like Steve Jobs who he recounts had a similar trait.
  • The best thing about us is also the worst thing.
  • It's possible to transfer past pain into something that brings light and utility to the world. For example, Rob recounts experiences as a child that have helped shape his desire to provide value in the world.
  • You can use the voids in your life and leverage them into something valuable and powerful.
  • Most of the time, it's one limited belief system that keeps them from achieving the things that they want in life.
  • Be the change you want to see in the world. - Gandhi
  • Rob submits that it's only when we change our perception that greatness can be achieved.
  • Nobody is born who you want them to be, they are only born to be themselves.
  • When it comes to leadership, your delusion is when you expect someone to behave the way you want them to behave. When we expect someone to be something they are not, we create an unrealistic expectation which leads to unnecessary frustration.
  • "Failure is an event, not a person." - Zig Ziglar
  • There doesn't necessarily have to be a catastrophic failure in life for you to learn. Wise people learn from experience, Super-wise people learn from others' experiences. Rob shares that he always felt like a failure as a child, but that was a great way to drive change.
  • Listen to the entire episode for even more insights shared by Rob Moore.
