Rob is back and we're going down a virus rabbit hole. Smallpox is one of only two viruses that have been completely eradicated from earth thanks to the invention of the vaccine. The smallpox vaccine was the first of its type, and took over from the much less effective inoculation procedure of variolation which included the use of powdered scabs to be administered by the way of the nose!

We're a man down, Rob is living in a tent while he impatiently awaits PCR test results for, you guessed it THE RONA! It's made its way into his house so, with that and other unforeseen work commitments, this week’s episode is Han and Tom chatting about current events! Normal practice will hopefully resume next week!

Leonarda Cianciulli was an Italian serial killer and cannibal responsible for the murders of 3 women in 1939 whom she cooked and made into bars of soap and tea cakes. She murdered women as part of a protection spell that she thought would keep her eldest son Giuseppe from being killed in battle during WWII. Nuts.

This week we chat through some of the weirdness that exists in our world. From immortal jellyfish and a pregnant baby, to gut brewed alcohol and an intelligent slime mould called The Blob. We then topped it all off with a yawn. All very weird, but all very true!

Experienced by people for thousands if not hundreds of thousands of years, Poltergeists plague or are attracted to specific individuals usually females, mostly young girls going through puberty. They move objects, make creepy noises and on occasions talk. But sometimes they manifest themselves in other ways. In 1931 on the Isle of Man, a mongoose called Gef moved in with the Irving family and lived with them for 10 years. Christopher Duntsch was an American neurosurgeon who maimed and paralysed over 30 patients and killed 2. What’s more insane than what he actually did to these people, which is pretty insane, was how long he was able to get away with it! Duty of care seemed to go right out the window here!

Today we discussed Galaxies. The immense size of these structures is breath taking. Containing hundreds of billions, if not trillions of stars and bound together with dark matter, galaxies hang in space on galactic filaments which make up the structures of the universe. How do they form ? how do they die ? why do all galaxies contain supermassive black holes at their core ? We have no idea but it’s fun to talk about.
