  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: VALENTINE HANGOVER PT.2
Another Look At that part of Love that has the bumps in the road and the bruises that come with them. All part of this Valentine's Hangover!Centering on what is maybe the most frustrating aspect of Love, even for patient people- waiting for it to come along and find us.I'll bring it all home on a hopeful note, it's the least I can do after dwelling on Love's miserable side. You never know who's coming around that corner.Have fun with this, I did!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: VALENTINE HANGOVER PT.1
Valentine's Day has come and gone, and of course I hope you had a great one. This week, the Valentines Hangover- a NOT all sweetness, flowers and candy Musical Investigation of the other side of Love- for that faction who wants nothing to do with it, and all others who have been stung by it.In other words, if you are over the age of 10, you will relate, lol!Answering my own challenge, I managed to do this entire first half hour with all songs that begin with the word "Love"!Enjoy!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.6 END
Buddy Holly was a Pioneer, using instruments on his songs no one else was doing, and getting into some Latin rhythms. And Holly and the Crickets were self-contained- they wrote their own songs and recorded them the way they wanted! At a time when Artists did what Record Producers told them, Holly fought back until it sounded the way HE heard it in his mind's ear.Buddy was a true Rebel, and a major contributor to the Music Of My Life!In this Final Chapter, I have another thing you may never have heard- Buddy doing a Radio Ad for that fateful Winter Dance Party. It's thought to be the last thing he ever recorded! Thanks for indulging me with one of my Faves, hope you enjoyed it!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.5
This episode commemorating Feb 3rd, 1959 is about Buddy Holly because Holly was the major loss.J.P. Richardson, The Big Bopper, undoubtedly would have returned to Radio.Richie Valens was a wild card- he could have fizzled out or gone on to better things. But Buddy already had an extensive catalogue of Music that musicians continue to play to this day.And I'll play him too- by Buddy himself and by others, including some contemporary Artists.

This Chapter opens with a surprising Buddy Holly cover, that was also surprisingly done by Blind Faith on their one and only studio album. After a little more Buddy, I'll play you another interview you probably have never heard. This time it's Dick Clark with Buddy & The Crickets on the old American Bandstand, and again in October of 1958, just months before Holly's death. Then it's time to pay some attention to Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.I certainly don't want to neglect them. And that includes my fave Richie Valens song.So join me, it's a presentation quite a bit different from the way Radio plays Music today.A good or bad thing?Your call, lol!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.3
Some Planes crash, some Planes don’t.In light of our subject, I’ll open this chapter up with a song for a Hero Pilot. It’s about expecting more from yourself, and being better than the rest.Remember, this was done in 2009.I’ll give a tip of the hat to the end of last week’s show, the one with my favorite Buddy Holly song, by playing what was a rare version of it by a Wing, a Beatle and a Wife.Frankly it's hard to find an Artist or Group in Our Music that has NOT done a Buddy Holly song at some point!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.2
Continuing with a rerun of the second half of a show done 50 Years To The Day after that Infamous Plane Crash on Feb. 3rd 1959, this Chapter is all Buddy Holly. To me, Buddy ranks closely up there with the Beatles, and there is a real connection between them. The Beatles chose their name because they wanted something similar to The Crickets- something that was clever and had two meanings.I'll have Music from both. But the most remarkable thing in here, and you may never have heard it, is an interview Alan Freed did with Buddy Holly just a few months before the Crash. There are the two them laughing and joking about all the dangerous Plane Rides they had taken on tour together the year before! It's very eerie...almost surreal!Give a listen, it's a nice collection of Rock & Roll and not all Oldies!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.1
I saw that February 3rd would fall on the day of the terrestrial broadcast this year, and I was preparing for it.Another time that happened for Rockollections was Feb. 3rd 2009- remarkably 50 YEARS TO THE DAY for the anniversary of Rock & Roll's First Tragedy on Feb. 3rd 1959- the Plane Crash That Killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper!I gave that old show a listen, and hearing all the things I had dug out- CD's, Old Vinyl Records, Old Tapes, and the presentation- I decided I could not really improve on it.Plus I wouldn't have to go around looking for all those things again, a not so easy task.So it's the old show you will hear, with a newly recorded Prologue. And don't panic, there is a long song in here I will not be playing all the way through, just enough to make a statement and meet our needs. And I promise you will hear things in this Series you have NEVER heard before!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: CIRCLES PT.10 FINAL
This is IT, the Grand Finale for Circles!Starting with a Set of Songs that were kind of Loose Ends, and have the Theme in common but little else, other than that I like them. But man, is it a Mixed bag, lol! Those who know me know I place a great emphasis on Opening and Closing Songs Of Series or Shows. For the first time I had not One, not Two, but Three to choose from.Any ONE of these could have been The Closer! But I had to choose a Song to give the Final Word to, and I think it was the right one!I thank all who Took The Bus With Me For This Long Ride, And All The Stops Along The Way!And I hope I provided you with some Memories, Introductions and Joy- ALL Part Of The Circle!

  • Episode 16: ROCKOLLECTIONS: CIRCLES PT.9
I am winding the Circles down, just this and one more Chapter, but I am going Round Again, and that’s the name of the first Song. And I remind you this Series was prompted by the Circling Of The Calendar to a New Year- seems so long ago, lol!I sink my teeth into a Theme and won’t let go.After all the stops along the way, these are The Circles Songs!A good long Set in here that I don’t think I would have thought of at another time, would never have duplicated- it was very Of The Moment, sometimes you just have to Feel it!And I’ll have a Song I knew I would play somewhere along the way- some Songs are like Old Friends, and that’s the case with this one for me.Join me, this is nice, and has some Rockers!
