Roker Rapport Podcast

Chris was joined for a chat ahead of Friday nights match with Joey Barton's Fleetwood Town in the League by FTFC Owner and Chairman - Mr Andrew Pilley.

 - You can listen for FREE on Acast, iTunes, Spotify, & YouTube - get stuck in! -

What are we talking about?

• Andy tells us the story of the rise of Fleetwood Town under his ownership of the last (almost) 17 years; from the North West Counties League to fighting for promotion to the Championship...

• The EFL and the state of Football since Covid-19 and Lockdown; How dire is the situation exactly, has it improved recently or are things getting worse financially for the clubs outside the top flight of the football pyramid?

• Are the governing bodies and the government doing enough to ensure the survival of clubs? (Bit of a trick question admittedly)

• Joey Barton; So what drew Andy and Joey together? What is it about Barton that attracted the attention of Fleetwood Town?

• Investment in Youth; The Fleetwood Town International Football Academy is a huge complex with some serious ambition behind it, what is the plan going forward with such a setup and how beneficial is it not just to Fleetwood but to football in general?

• Looking ahead to tomorrow's match against the Lads; How does Andy feel going into the game.. Any Predictions?

• Football without fans; How does it feel, not just financially, from a club owners perspective watching the matches the way we have to at the moment?

All this and loads more! A great chat with Andy and some more insight into the current situation for all EFL clubs... and of course why you should always hold out for a little more if you happen to have a Jamie Vardy on the books...

Connor, Gav & Tom got together to kick reet aff at Sunderland pissing three points up the wall away at Doncaster - just how much longer will ParkyBall be tolerated by the club’s board?

What’s the crack?

• Connor attempts to find some positives...

• The lads discuss the finer points of Sunderland’s performance;

• Phil Parkinson... Phil... Parkinson... WHY WON’T HE MAKE SUBS/CHANGE THINGS UP/RESIGN?!

Ahem. And loads more, including answering YOUR questions (cheers for sending them in!)

Gav (aye he's doing that thing again) was joined by Martin and Jimmy to preview the upcoming match this weekend against an in form Doncaster Rovers, and try and work out what exactly Parkinson will pull out of the hat this week. We're also joined by massive lads fan (but professional fence sitting journalist) Mr Paul Goodwin to go over Donny's season so far and give his thoughts on the start to the season from both sides of this particular fence..

 - You can listen for FREE on Acast, iTunes, Spotify, & YouTube - get stuck in. -

What are we talking about?

• Players out of position; Will Luke O'Nien start in goal this week or will he be allowed to play a position he's better suited to?

• Is this match as vital for Parkinson as it is for Sunderland with the under fire Manager presumably looking over his shoulder at the goings on at the club?

• Is Ashbrooke a breeding ground for sports journalists? Gav is joined by local lad Paul Goodwin to look at how things are going down the Keepmoat lately, under a manager their fans actually like in Darren Moore..

• The lads wonder if anything can stop Parkinson playing an injured Willis, just how injured does he need to be?

All this and much more! Listen in!

Gav, Connor and Sam look at the situation with Phil Parkinson and the (possible but not confirmed.. Aye) Takeover of the club by a young billionaire by the name of Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and one Juan Sartori...

- You can listen for FREE on Acast, iTunes, Spotify, & YouTube - get stuck in! -

What are we talking about?

• So a change is on the horizon once more... Is this actually happening? What exactly is this that is apparently happening soon? Who is Kyril Louis-Dreyfus? What are Juan, Stewart and Charlie up to (and will they tell anyone) and if all goes to plan.. What is the plan?

• Phil Parkinson; Is everyone on the ParkyOut bus? Was the weekends game a step too far for Parkinson? Does he already know he's on his way out?

• A replacement manager; Who do people want to see in charge at SAFC? Can a decision be made with a Takeover currently underway... Allegedly.. Aye

• What do we think will happen in the coming months? Do we see a brighter future or more doubt? Is Charles and Stewart's involvement making people a bit more nervous about it all?

• Can we last the Podcast without confirming something that doesn't end up happening after all?

All this and much more! Stay safe and as usual, thanks for listening!

Connor found himself on a Twitter hill on Saturday night, and so looks to debate if getting dumped out of the cup by Mansfield is in fact our worst ever defeat, as Chris and Bomber give their respective take on the situation ahead of the Fleetwood match that has little meaning and the return to League action next Saturday.

- You can listen for FREE on Acast, iTunes, Spotify, & YouTube - get stuck in! -

• Power and Dobson; Just what is going on there?
