In this weeks Rom Crime, we tackle the story of a fatal love triangle. For as long as tales of true crime have captivated me my interest has been equally split between the WHY these horrific things happen and the HOW the detectives and forensic experts put the pieces together and catch and cage the monster. But when the WHY never becomes clear and the HOW the killer is caught never comes to fruition we are trapped in an endless void where no answers are offered.

Words often uttered by anyone watching a really bad romantic comedy or, MY favorite, a really bad horror movie.  

In our never ending search for the most romantic true crime stories out there, Vonia and I often discover that real life is, indeed, stranger (read: bat shit crazier) than fiction. However, once in awhile, a Rom Crime story pops up that seems too mind boggling to possibly be true. A story, so wild, that only a room full of writers tripping their balls off could ever come up with the plot.  

Averyn and I begin this journey covering the first episode of HBO's, docu-series, I'll Be Gone in the Dark: Murder Habit. For any true crime lover, this feels personal. It was like watching someone with similar obsessions (the wonderful Michelle McNamara) dive far past where we would dare to go. The risks she takes and the obsession that ultimately declares her, are fascinating and heart-wrenching. It is a terrifying, can't turn your eyes away ride.
