In these episodes Shelby reviews one of the Psalms and walks you through a guided prayer. The goal of these episodes is that you will have an opportunity to meet God for yourself. Whether you know God well or not this is a chance to connect with him on a personal level. Imaginative prayer is different from daydreaming in two ways:
- It is fueled not just by our imagination, but by the Holy Spirit working through our imagination.
- It is grounded in scripture.
In imaginative prayer, the same Holy Spirit inspires (literally “breathes into”) our imaginations in a way that draws us closer to Christ. Prayer is a conversation with God; imaginative prayer creates a space for that encounter.
The heart of imaginative prayer, then, is to “meet” God, usually in the person of Jesus, in a personal way.
