Following the unexpected closure of one of the only two early years services in Boyle in 2023, which left a significant gap in accessible, quality early childhood care and education on local families, Boyle Community Childcare, a steering group of Boyle Family Resource Centre, emerged and after two years of community research a needs analysis report has been put together. Adrianne speaks with Christina Egan Marnell, Chairperson of Boyle Community Childcare about their findings, the urgent need for a childcare facility in Boyle, and the official launch of their needs analysis, which will take place in the Boyle Family Resource Centre on Friday, 13th June from 10am, where findings will be explained and suggestions or solutions will be welcomed. He also tells us about a new monthly concussion podcast, which is starting next week. Aidan is talking about concussion and the symptoms to look out for, he also talks about the interview he will be doing with Heidi Kivimaa, CEO and Co-Founder of ACT Head Impact Tracker, which is a measuring device designed to enhance safety in sports by monitoring and analysing impacts and forces on athletes’ heads.

Joan Swift, a cycling campaigner from the Sligo Cycling Campaign Group speaks with Adrianne about the current campaign to have a proper cycling infrastructure throughout the countryside and in every town and village around Ireland. A Palestinian farming organisation, called the Union of Agriculture Work Committees UAWC, issued a call for solidarity wanting fellow farmers from the global peasant farmer movement, La Via Campesina, to come and see the “severe and critical conditions” on the ground in the West Bank in Palestine. Journalist and Eco Farmer, Ollie Moore from Tipperary took up the call. Ollie is a member of Talamh Beo an organisation working towards eco-friendly and fair farming for all. Here Ollie tells Adrianne about his experience in Palestine and the horrors he saw with roadblocks everywhere making it virtually impossible to get around, crops destroyed by military and the children stuck in the middle of this nightmare. He also speaks of the resilience of these people and the kindness he encountered by the Palestinians.

Adrianne Murphy is joined in the by Louise Whelan who works as the Social Media Administrator for the Roscommon Dementia Alliance, in association with the Roscommon LEADER Partnership. She also chats with Teresa Keegan who is a Dementia Adviser with the Roscommon Alzheimer Society. They discuss the supports available for people who have been diagnosed or have symptoms of dementia and also the support and advice they offer to the relatives and carers. They also run a Day Centre in Castlerea 3 days per week and one in St. Patrick’s Day Centre on Fridays.
