National Volunteer Week took place this week and RosFM were at Gleeson's Hotel in Roscommon Town for an Outside Broadcast where a Workshop was taking place. Presenters Joe Bambrick and Martina Dockery spoke to a number of guests and volunteers which included; Stuart Garland from Volunteer Ireland; Aine Egan from Roscommon Volunteer Centre; Daniela Stoica Volunteer and Presenter at Rosfm; Tara Carroll from Strokestown Park House; Olivia Kolska from ALONE; Ursula Ledwith, Volunteer and Presenter at RosFM; Slavek Kazek, Chairman of Midland Polish Community, and Niamh Loftus, Volunteer and Presenter at RosFM.

The identity of the councillor who will replace the late Tony Waldron on Roscommon County Council will be known next Monday. There are four candidates. Emmett Corcoran chats to Seamus Duke about that and other political developments this week on the Good Morning Roscommon Show.

The Roscommon Family Resource Centre which is based in Castle Street is celebrating five years in existence with a major family fun day out in Lisnamult on Bank Holiday Monday at 2pm. Leah Farrell has been speaking to Seamus Duke about the celebrations and about the services that the centre offers to the local community.

Caroline Henry is the Chairperson of the Connacht SBHI Branch, with SBHI standing for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland. The Connacht Branch, which was called SBHI Mayo, Leitrim, Roscommon now covers the whole of the province. Caroline joins Adrianne on the phone to talk about her story and how she got involved with the organisation. She explains the disease itself and the supports they offer to individuals and their families. A new ‘All Right All Night’ online safety training has been launched with 5,000 free one-hour online courses available for over 18s. This training aims to promote a safer experience for young people when socialising at night and has been developed by the Bystander Intervention Team in University College Cork with funding from the Department of Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport’s Night-Time Economy Unit. To explain the type of courses and training available for young people, Adrianne is joined by Professor Louise Crowley from UCC’s Law Department. Ballaghaderreen Swimming Pool located at The Abbeyfield Hotel is Open Again. The long-awaited reopening of this important swimming facility has been reopened courtesy of Splash Swim Ireland and a lot of hard work by local TD Claire Kerrane.
