I WATCHED A CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGE

The Royals may or may not have played a baseball game yesterday, it's honestly really hard to tell.  More importantly, we got some long-awaited payoffs I've been asking for: an answer to what's going on with Kyle Isbel (and a solution), and the first true overhaul of the Royals lineup (which still can't score any runs).

After another low-scoring game, it's clear what kind of team the Kansas City Royals are in 2022: a team that doesn't score many runs, but prevents runs from scoring thanks to an invincible defense and a shutdown bullpen, both of which have already been shown, statistically, that they are among the best in MLB.  The Royals have fully recovered from their 5-game losing streak by winning three straight, evening out their record to a perfectly balanced .500 after ten games, which is not a bad sight to see at all.

The Royals come back from a 2-day break to win a second consecutive game--gosh, I feel so spoiled!!  This is largely thanks to MASSIVE power coming from Salvador Perez and Hunter Dozier--sorry, who is that?  I think I meant to say ALEX MF GORDON BACK FROM RETIREMENT hitting a game-winner.  That's right, HE'S BACK!!!!!  Also Bobby Witt Jr. cost us three runs lmao.

WE'RE FINALLY FREE.  The Royals break their 5-game losing streak in a game with the lowest expectations possible.  Kris Bubic makes a dramatic improvement over his season debuting disaster, and Hunter Dozier continues his revenge tour despite some mistakes.  Even with a highly imperfect game, it looks like things are getting a little better for the Royals.

Today's post-game recap takes us through Daniel Lynch's first start of the game, which on paper looks like another disaster from the 2018 draft class.  However, I look at it closely and find some things to be happy with.  Maybe it's not so bad after all?  Also, we get to rant about Ryan O'Hearn again, because who doesn't love to watch pinch-hit appearances from Ryan O'Hearn?  At least Salvy is getting back on track.

The Royals lose a high-scoring game, but at least it's a little more even this time.  There's a lot to not love about this game, but I do my best to highlight the good parts, or even the not-so-bad things, such as our invincible defense that's already saved a ton of runs, and Andrew Benintendi's lava hot start.  Unfortunately, Beni's series is less of a talking point than the supernova start of Steven Kwan, who is far and away the best player in MLB after four games, and all I can say is good luck to whoever has to deal with him next because he made my weekend very not fun.
