Jeff Hogan, WRAL morning anchor, is hoping to complete his 30th marathon soon. The Runologie crew caught up with the veteran news anchor to discuss how running helps reset the day filled with interesting work hours and how one marathon lead to ultramarathons.

The Runologie Podcast crew has some fun with a running inspired “You Can Only Pick 3” social media game before discussing how simple common sense can go a long way when observing acceptable social distancing while you’re on a run route.

“Tar River Running Company’s Michael Forrester has organized several races, including the annual Mill Chill 4-Mile in Rocky Mount that benefits the National MS Society. His latest endeavors are virtual 5K and 19K races to help support North Carolina craft brewery employees who have been impacted by business declines due to the risks created by COVID-19. Dubbed the “Flatten The Curve Race”, Forrester hopes to fill the void of canceled and postponed races for runners and help support the craft breweries so many runners enjoy."

Our State Magazine’s Jeremy Markovich joined the Runologie crew to discuss the upcoming season of “Away Message”, where his podcast will focus on North Carolina’s Mountain to Sea Trail. The conversation covers remote places in the state, discovering new elements of your own neighborhood when you’re forced to find pedestrian routes, and using Strava to maintain a social aspect of running.

Tom Nobles, a recent UNC-Charlotte graduate, made it to the US Olympic Marathon Trials in Atlanta. Unlike most Olympic sports, the marathon event allows for more amateur participation thanks to a target time of 2 hours and 19 minutes at qualifying races. Nobles joined the Runologie crew to talk about his training, his experience at the trials, and what it’s like to run in Nike’s controversial AlphaFly shoes.

Running 50 kilometers is taxing enough on the human body, but Jason Honeycutt wanted to stretch the limits of what he's capable of doing by eating at various Taco Bell locations along the way. He joined the Runologie crew to answer the simple question, “why?"
