Fashion Month is here! Sort of, kinda, I guess… Like everything else in 2020, fashion shows are operating a little differently and we’ve adjusted Game of Clothes to roll with the punches. This season we’re selecting one live runway show, one digital show and one freebie (because things are hard enough, okay?) to focus on in each city. Listen in to hear our new scoring and lineups. We also break down our New York results, which to be honest were better than we expected given the shorted schedule and limited participants. Then in Style Snacks, we still can’t get over Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, Models are suing Vogue for unauthorized use of their images, Courreges names a new Creative Director, the CFDA award winners are announced and Zac Posen hosts a surprise pop up during NYFW.

Did the fashion industry just wait all summer to then drop a ton of juicy stories this week? Seems like it. With so much going on before Fashion Month, we wanted to take this episode to catch up on all the exciting Style Snacks before we go into show mode. First up, we say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians (well not really since new episodes will still air in 2021). Then we move on to Influencer updates with Danielle Bernstein coming under fire (again) and Man Repeller dropping the “Man.” Next, things have spiraled out of control between LVMH and Tiffany in the most bougie lawsuit way possible. LVMH also made big designer announcements this week with the luxury conglomerate ending their relationship with Nicholas Kirkwood and then appointing Kim Jones the Artistic Director of Fendi. In other designer news, Demna Gvasalia launched Balenciaga’s channel with Apple Music by curating a 13 hour playlist and a product drop that looks suspiciously like a 2019 Vetements collection. Hmm… Marc Jacobs launched Heaven. Prada and Adidas Superstars are already sold out, creating even more hype as we head into their Spring 2021 digital presentation and Raf Simons debut. Saint Laurent captured a perfect blend of video and catwalk for their Men’s show – hello runway ON THE EIFFEL TOWER! And finally, the Paris show schedule has been announced, but some big names are missing…

For Karl Lagerfeld to dub you the inventor of Minimalist Chic, you must be pretty remarkable. And Tina Chow was with her striking Eton haircut and androgynous look. But there was so much more going on behind the coy, ever entertaining hostess façade. This week we look at the life and death of the model, muse and jewelry designer from her early starts in Ohio to striking it big in Japan to turning her husband’s restaurant chain into a resounding global success. We also explore her work as an AIDS activist and her untimely end at the hands of the disease. Also in Style Snacks, Arielle Charnas is in hot water again (insert eyeroll), Cardi B for Balenciaga is on the side of the Louvre, Louis Vuitton uncovers a massive counterfeit ring in China and Netflix sets up exciting releases with Emily in Paris and a multi-year deal with Meghan and Harry.

This week we wanted to catch up with some of fashion’s most powerful influencers, namely Arielle Charnas, Daniella Bernstein, Aimee Song and Katie Sands. Like the rest of us, 2020 hasn’t exactly been the easiest year for them. That being said, some of them (cough… Arielle and Daniella) didn’t make it any easier on themselves either.  Listen in as we go through their highs and lows. Well here we are at the end of summer… and we’re still in quarantine. While it’s a little more “normal” than it was five months ago, our shopping and self-care habits still aren’t quite the same. This week we examine our behaviors to see just how much the virus has changed the categories we’re buying and methodology. Fashion Week IRL? Seems weird now, right? Well, Copenhagen tried for Spring 2021 with their hybrid of in person shows and digital presentations this week. While there were fewer designers showing this season, there were still standouts with Ganni, Stine Goya and Nynne. We also breakdown the Helmstedt and Munthe shows. Style Snacks is packed this week with Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s baby news, Walter Van Beirendonck’s accusation of  stealing by Virgil Abloh, the Brother Veilles collab with “When We All Vote,” Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy’s eyewear brand launch and Milan Fashion Week news.

In what has been a fashion drought of a year, Beyonce has finally come through and served up the digital experience we’ve been waiting for. Black is King is 90 minutes of non stop fashion, with over 100 looks and some serious styling. Working with Zerina Akers and team, Beyonce found the perfect balance of big name designers, lesser known brands, old and new world outfitting to create a stunning visual album. Listen in to hear some of our favorite looks and what really went into making the film. Plus in Style Snacks, September covers are out, YSL acquires a 4,000 piece vintage collection, Louis Vuitton Men’s stages a live runway show and Zuhair Murad’s headquarters is destroyed after the Beirut explosion.

This week we have big news to share! The RWCT crew will be growing by one this October when Whitney and Mike welcome a baby girl to the family. As with all big moments, we felt it necessary to break down the fashion behind maternity, nursery and kid style. Iman is many things: style icon, model, actress, entrepreneur, activist. This week we take a look at her life and the stories behind each of these roles. Growing up in Somalia and Egypt, Iman never planned to be a model. Instead, she had her sights set on political science. A chance encounter with Peter Beard changed that and less than a year later Iman found herself in the pages of Vogue. But she knew modeling wasn’t the end goal – it was simply a business. She translated her success into many other ventures including Iman Cosmetics, Global Chic and countless charity and social justice roles. So inspiring! Plus in Style Snacks, we have more fashion shows and digital winners this week than last. Whether it was Miuccia’s last solo show for Prada, Loewe’s show in a box, Margiela’s (missing) documentary or Gucci’s staff lookbook, we really enjoyed this week’s presentations. The only sour note to the week, the US government is moving forward with a 25% tax on French luxury goods. Buy your bags while you can!
