Isabella Blow got us wondering – who was Guy Laroche? And why was she drawn to West Texas to work for him? Well, spoiler alert… She just worked in one of his boutiques. Nevertheless, this week we take a look at Guy Laroche’s life and career. It turns out he had quite the knack for business, identifying early manufacturing trends and bringing in partners at crucial times throughout his brand’s history. He was also a keen designer who transitioned early into RTW. Listen in this week to learn more about his contributions to the fashion industry, including (gasp) culottes. Plus in Style Snacks we speculate on Saint Laurent’s confirmed absence from the runway and Gigi Hadid’s pregnancy. There’s also some good news with CR Runway x amFAR’s digital fashion show, Sotherby’s record breaking Cartier bracelet and the #metgalachallenge.

Nothing is normal anymore. And let’s face it, thanks to Coronavirus, it won’t be for a while. The luxury fashion segment, like virtually everything else, is not immune. This week we explore what luxury fashion could look like in the upcoming months. How brands, designers and customers respond could mean the difference in a house staying in business or closing shop. From the economic impact, to brand strategy, marketing and actual designs, we give our predictions on how the market will change. A return to minimalism? Or plunge into futuristic darkness? Perhaps a reckoning with sustainability? Listen in for our thoughts. Plus in Style Snacks, we dish on the NFL draft, Virgil Abloh’s latest collab, Brand Fashion’s most valuable brand list, Fashion Revolution’s brand transparency list and Maxfield LA finally making the jump to ecommerce.

One of the most famous friendships in fashion history, Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow had an undeniable bond. From the moment Blow saw McQueen’s graduate collection, she knew he was destined to be the powerhouse designer we all view him as today. She used her connections to catapult him into the world of fashion elites and he never looked back. This week, we chronicle their complicated connection filled with incredible highs and desperate lows. Plus in Style Snacks, we discuss best friend Clare’s shocking departure from Givenchy. Is she going to a Meghan Markle collab? We sincerely hope not. Oh and “Revenge Buying” is a thing and it’s happening right now in China.

Thanks to our Coronavirus quarantine, we’ve been able to watch the Hillary documentary on Hulu and it really got us thinking about how women’s dress is perceived in politics. Unfortunately, the default to judging women who hold office by their appearance is nothing new. In fact, it’s been around since the very first female Congresswoman. In today’s episode we discuss the impact of making those judgements and how some of today’s leading figures are using it to their benefit. Plus, it’s Coronavirus Style Snacks part 2 with Kering, Zegna, Armani and Burberry joining in the fight against the virus. Net-a-Porter closes their European and US distribution centers and other luxury retailers board up storefronts. The long list of cancellations grows with the Met Gala being the latest addition. In non-Corona news, Meghan and Harry officially make the move to LA and Tiger King has us all captivated and horrified. Listen in to hear Liz’s first hand experiences with Joe Exotic.

Another week of stretchy pants is upon us. At least Liz managed to put jeans on for our recording. Can’t say the same for Whitney. This week we discuss trying to stay positive and ways to channel your anxiety during the Coronavirus quarantine. We dish on what we’re watching (Schitt’s Creek is a must), reading (thanks Vogue for some quick fun reads), and what activities are keeping us centered (exercise, organize, repeat). We also have a Coronavirus themed edition of Style Snacks. Gwyneth Paltrow is partnering with Proenza Schouler for Goop, virtually all events are postponed, Anna Wintour tells us to stay home, business is TOUGH and Mr. Arnault and LVMH step up to make hand sanitizer and secure masks. Cristian Siriano, Brandon Maxwell and Pyer Moss join the fight against the virus as well. A big thanks to everyone out there who’s doing their part, especially the medical professionals on the front line!

If you’re like us, this week has you thinking about how many in person meetings, events, etc. are not really essential to be in person after all. Is the same true for runway shows? With technology that can make you feel like you’re sitting front row, does it make sense to be using so many resources to chase designers around the globe? Or is this the designer’s opportunity to create a brand defining moment that can make their career? In this week’s episode, we argue the case. We also take a look back the history of the runway show and how we arrived at this pivotal moment in the fashion show’s future. We also chat about the Christian Louboutin and Betty Catroux museum exhibits (that you may never have the chance to see thanks to the Coronavirus) in Style Snacks.

We survived another fashion month… barely. Game of Clothes comes to a dramatic end. This season’s winner squeaked it out by just one point. Who was it you ask? You’ll have to listen to find out. We also discuss the biggest trends we saw this season including gloves, puffy sleeves, oversized silhouettes, bra tops and thigh high boots to name a few. Plus in Style Snacks, we chat about what Givenchy’s new CEO means to their future, Jean Paul Gaultier’s new HC adventure, the Gossip Girl reboot and NYC’s plastic bag ban. Oh and did we mention the Yeezy show was a train wreck? Because that’s putting it nicely.

At long last we’ve arrived at the big show! With so many shows to see, it can be easy to miss some surprise standouts. Luckily, we’ve captured Rokh’s love letter, Saint Laurent’s liquid leggings and Celine’s, well, Hedi. We also discuss Dior, Margiela, Dries, Patou and the horror that was Balenciaga. And when we say horror, it wasn’t the clothes. It was the scary as sh*t outlook that Demna has for our future. Oh and did we mention that Kanye held a Sunday Service? Listen in to hear all the details.
