Elle Germany’s major model mistake got us thinking – what does it mean to be a model today? We’ve come a long way from the singular view of the supermodel, but have we come far enough? Does the runway really reflect today’s society in all ages, races, shapes and abilities? Not likely. We’ve all donated clothes. And chances are you probably felt really good when you did it. You probably thought your used jeans were going to someone locally who could use them. Chances are they probably didn’t. Chances are they were likely bundled up and shipped off to another country. It’s crazy to think about, but the US exports millions of pounds of used clothing a year. After the Paris Fashion Week collaboration with Dries Van Noten, we knew we needed to take a step back and look at the career of Christian Lacroix. In this week’s episode, we discuss the early life and career of the visionary from Arles, France. We review our favorite shows and looks, but also the unfortunate end to what could have been a leading haute couture house. This week Whitney and Liz are together again in Dallas! We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out the Louis Vuitton pop up shop in Highland Park Village. Plus, it gave us a good excuse to drink Mambo Taxis and chow down on some queso at Mi Cocina. Then, we discuss what shows we’ve been binging the past month in between all of the runway shows. Fashion month can be grueling. Sometimes you have to zone out in front of the tv. You can always count on Paris to restore your faith in fashion humanity! Saint Laurent orchestrated a sky spotlight symphony in the City of Lights, Dior took us a forest full of fantastic straw hats and Dries Van Noten gave us the greatest gift of all – collaboration between two unlikely masters. Seriously, we can’t get over the fact that Dries Van Noten and Christian Lacroix just sent a collection down the runway. It wasn’t all la vie en rose though, Celine was a little redundant and we weren’t really sure who the Patou woman was supposed to be. Still for the most part, nous amions what we’ve seen so far.
