Garðar Bachmann Þórðarson is a photographer who lives and works in Seyðisfjörður. He is exhibiting a series of images (https://skaftfell.is/exhibition/gardar-bachmann-thordarson-monuments/) of snowbanks that form during winter maintenance on roads in the area. They are temporary and constantly changing, and then further shaped by weather and human intervention.

Celia Harrison is the director of the Skaftfell Art Centre, and discussed the images with Darren.

Municipal elections in Iceland are under two weeks away. In east Iceland this Thursday, a chance to meet the candidates running in Múlaþing.

Today on RÚV English Radio, Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor - the Icelandic-American concert pianist and researcher dedicating her skills to Icelandic classical composers.

Kristín (https://kristinjoninataylor.com/) is based in Omaha, Nebraska, where she is Associate Professor of Piano. She grew up in a "very Icelandic household", not least due to her Icelandic mum, and has dedicated much of her work to Icelandic music, most especially composers such as Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson and Jón Nordal.

She joined Darren to discuss her work, and Icelandic classical composition.

Flestir skólar eru lokaðir og verslanir líka.

Fyrsta maí kröfuganga var farin fyrst á Íslandi árið 1923. Þá var verkafólk til dæmis með kröfur um átta stunda vinnudag.

Þetta er einn af almennum frídögum á Íslandi.

Þeir eru líka stundum kallaðir rauðir dagar.

Það eru tveir þannig í viðbót núna í maí - þetta árið þann 14. og þann 25.

The University of Iceland offers a variety of courses, including diplomas, and a BA. Guðrún (https://gudrun.is) is fascinated by the relationship between nature and man, shaped by the weather, light, and landscapes of Iceland. In her paintings, nature appears as an ever-changing process.

Four decades of her work are now on display at Kjarvalsstaðir (https://listasafnreykjavikur.is/en/exhibitions/gudrun-kristjansdottir-traces), which is where Darren met her, and exhibition curator Sunna Ástþórsdóttir.
