Quite often in our spiritual warfare, Satan will also use mis applied scriptures to put us down. He did this during the temptations of Jesus. It calls on us not only to know what is written but other scriptures that corroborates what is written. Jesus did not just say it's written, He also said "its also written". Let us avoid being "one line" believers and inculcate a culture of studying the word of God thoroughly. One portion of the scriptures interprets another and so we should aspire as Paul said to know the whole counsel of God!

All the parts of Cristain armour that the Apostle Paul listed in Ephesians 6: 13 -17 are defensive weapons but one. The only weapon that God has given his children for defence is the Sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Just like Jesus used the scriptures to disarm the devil during his temptation, we must take time to read, study and hide the word of God in our hearts if we are to be victorious. The word of God is living and active and is sharper than a double edged sword when used by believers in their spiritual warfare.

A helmet is an important piece in warfare. It guards the head which is one of the most important parts of the human body. Helmets are used for the same purpose by riders and contractors. As God's children, we are encouraged to arm ourselves with the helmet of salvation. This is the certainty that our salvation is complete in God and our eternal safety is based on the finished work of Christ. The assurance that nothing whatsoever can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ is crucial for victorious Christian living. Where is your helmet today?

A shield is a common equipment in warfare in guarding us against the arsenals of the enemy. Faith is a defensive shield for God's children. We do not face life because we have evidence that everything is okay. To the contrary, things change overnight and a promising dream comes crumbling down. We face each day by faith fully assured that all shall be well because our God is in control. Despite momentary darkness, we can be sure of better days ahead because our faith is not in the circumstances of life but in God who controls the circumstances and works all things for our good!

Satan will do everything possible to deny us peace in our spiritual warfare. That is why we must guard our peace with all it takes. On the same note, we need to be instruments of peace and do everything possible to encourage and support our fellow brothers and sisters. In a world where there is a lot of condemnation and putting down, it would be better to keep quite if you have nothing positive or good you can speak to another person. Do all you can and be a carrier of peace!

Just like a bullet proof is crucial in protecting soldiers during battle, believers are encouraged to incorporate the breast plate of righteousness in their spiritual warfare. Satan will try to put you down on the basis of your righteousness before God. May we remind him that on account of what Jesus did for us, we are the righteousness of God in Christ!

The first piece of the Christian Armor is the belt of truth. The enemy will do everything possible to make us doubt God's word and faithfulness. We should never doubt what God has told us in the light when darkness knocks our door.

God in saving us enlisted us into battle. We do not wage war against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers. Our war is more defensive than offensive even as we protect what God has given us

It is possible for believers to try to seek and know more about the kingdom of darkness as concerns the devil and his agents. However, the scriptures admonish us to desire to know more of God and his word and in that way what is counterfeit will be exposed. Do not seek to know and understand about the devil. Hide yourself in the light of God's word and you will never be deceived.
