All of us have an image of ourselves that is less than the truth of who we actually are - one with Jesus. And because many of us have been programmed from a young age with sin-consciousness instead of being taught that we are one with God, we have a hard time connecting with and experiencing that truth.

So, before we can know who we are, we need to detox from the religious ideas of legalism and separation from God that we have been taught. We have to get a revelation of who Jesus is in order to get a revelation of who we are because as He is, so are we.

We need to get a firm grip on what the Gospel actually says about who we are - one with and in union with Jesus.

You can’t do the good works that were pre-ordained for you out of a false identity.

You can’t receive your purpose until your identity in Christ is settled in your heart.

The Gospel, Christ in you - the hope of glory, has to become the basis of your identity.

Who you are must be built on the foundation of union with God. This revelation will change your perspective on everything. You are one with Jesus, right now!

And, who you are is a unique expression of Jesus. You were specifically and strategically created to be part of His body in this hour.

In the final podcast of the Christian Contradiction Series this week, “God lives inside of me, BUT experiencing and getting to know Him is hard,” I address some of the main obstacles people have in experiencing and knowing God.

Because of bad theology and spoonfed dogma, many Christians in the Church believe that either God doesn’t speak anymore, or that hearing God is hard and walking in the Spirit is difficult.

But the truth is, knowing and experiencing God is as simple as hearing our own thoughts and using our imagination to engage with His Spirit - the trick might be in getting over some of our unbelief and wrong theology.

In this week’s episode, you’ll discover:

God spoke directly to people in the Old Testament who were living under the Old Covenant where God’s presence lived in the Temple. As believers today, we need to remember that the same presence and Spirit of God that filled the Temple, now fills US!

The podcast this week is a big one! “I'm a new creation in Christ, BUT I will always struggle with sin,” is going to shake the foundation of the sin-consciousness that is so prevalent in the Church. The good news of the Gospel and the reality of the new creatures that we are in Christ is a dangerous message to a self-righteous society and to a system that is built on performance and striving and independence from God.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 tells us that anyone in Christ is a new creation, that ALL things were reconciled to God through Christ (so, all things are in Christ), and that Jesus became sin itself so that IN Him, we would be righteous.

So why the struggle with sin? In short, sin is an identity issue. Call it the ‘sin habit,’ if you will. The act of sinning comes from what we have been programmed to believe about ourselves. It is a false sense of independence from God.

Independence from God is the nature of the antichrist and self-righteousness, and it is strengthened by the law. And according to the Gospel, God doesn’t see us as separate from Himself - there is no independent ‘you’ outside of Him.

This week’s podcast is rich and meaty, so be prepared to listen more than once. And make sure to really meditate on the following Scriptures:

• 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

• Ephesians 4:1 (specifically in the Mirror Translation)

• Ephesians 1:1-14

• Colossians 3:1-5

• Not only was the ‘sinful’ you crucified with Christ, the ‘good’ you was as well!

• We’re not like Jesus, we’re IN Him...the ‘IN Him’ is what makes us righteous, holy, and innocent

• There is no ‘you’ outside of Christ

• Our UNION with Jesus is why we do not have a sin-nature

I believe that we have spent too much time relating to the Old Testament (the Law) and we’re not rooted and grounded in the New Testament Gospel. We need to crucify the old man in our minds, AND we need to resist the temptation to believe that we could possibly have any righteousness independent from Jesus, according to our own ‘works.’

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again: there is no ‘you’ OUTSIDE of Christ. And, no accusation against us can stand when we are hidden in Christ.

Ep# 79 - I'm a New Creation, BUT....

In this week’s podcast, “God gave us free will, BUT God is in control,” I expose the heresy of Christian Contradiction No. 9. If you think God is “in control,” you’ve been duped and you’re not catching what the Gospel actually tells us.

I know “heresy” is a strong word, and you may really be reacting to that, but listen...

As Christians, many of us tend to comfort ourselves and others when we feel out of control with, “it’s God’s will.” But, it’s not true and it just produces a passiveness in the body of Christ. Please hear me, God is not in control.

Now, this is not about the sovereignty of God. God is absolutely sovereign. But in His royal lordship over all, He has given dominion and control of the planet over to mankind.

In this podcast, I talk about:

• The scriptural proof that God is not “in control” (Genesis 1:26-28, Luke 4:6, 2 Corinthians 4:3)

• Where control went as a result of Adam’s fall

• Why we have freedom and are not controlled by God (hint: there is no love in control)

• The authority we have on this planet through our union with Jesus

• Why the recognition of and yielding to our union with Jesus is so important

Let me say it again. God is not in control. BUT, the god of this world has been defeated by Jesus and all authority has been given to Him. BUT, Jesus is not in control because the enemy is still loose on the planet...defeated but loose.

The fact is, WE are the expression of Jesus’ dominion on the Earth, the body of Christ.

The fact is, God’s will is not automatic. It happens to the extent that WE are yielded in our union with Him as expressors of Him through the Holy Spirit as sons of God. It’s up to us to be the vessels through which Jesus can express Himself on the planet.

If you’re waiting on God to do something, you have to listen to this podcast!

The podcast this week, “Jesus became poor so that we might be rich, BUT money is evil,” is all about... money! The fact is, God is incredibly generous and has already shared all that He has with us. Jesus not only became our sin and sickness for us, He also became poverty.

For you have experienced the extravagant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although He was infinitely rich, He impoverished Himself for our sake, so that by His poverty, we become rich beyond measure. 2 Corinthians 8:9

Did you catch that? Beyond measure. The Bible tells us that it is God’s will that we have abundant lives, beyond what we expect. (John 10:10, 3 John 2)

Yet, a lot of Christians think money is the root of all evil. But the Scripture actually says that it is the love of money that is what’s evil (1 Timothy 6:10). You see, money is not the problem - living and thinking independently from God is the problem.
