<p>In this episode I explore the history of the McCamly Plaza Hotel which was built as part of a larger complex in downtown Battle Creek beginning in 1980, and officially opening around November 1981. I review some of the history of the building, and discuss a tour I just had of the new Doubletree which officially opened this month after a 5 year remodeling project. It is a new beautiful hotel in Battle Creek, and this will give you some insight into the early history of the project.</p>

Southwest Michigan is rich in history, as the region contains the second wave of twelve counties organized in the State in 1829. The region developed along the Territorial Roads, connecting the first land routes between Detroit and Chicago, which later brought with it the railroads and modern highways.
