Today Hollywood producer and screenwriter Michael Schur (The Good Place, Brooklyn 99, Parks and Recreation, The Office) joins Laura to talk about his new book 'How to Be Perfect: The Correct Answer to Every Moral Dilemma'. Michael digs into to some of moral philosophies that have shaped our world for centuries and that frame a lot of the storylines in The Good Place. He considers how we define our sense of right and wrong, whether or not it’s possible to live a wholly ethical life, and how a belief in God fits into our approach to morality. He also  - which might seem unusual for this podcast - talks about the power of distraction in leading you to your purpose.
