Kings get 2 UGLY wins against the Thunder and Mavs in back to back games. Against the Thunder, the Kings weathered a dreadful scoring drought in the 3rd quarter before turning up in the 4th to win going away. In the Mavs game, Kings went up 13 early in the 3rd quarter before squandering that lead with a series of elementary school turnovers to let the Mavericks right back into the game and needing Metu to save them at the buzzer. While these were 2 ugly wins, they are wins nonetheless for a Kings team in desperate need of them.

Now we wait to see if the Kings can build off this momentum and as they fight their way back into the play-in tournament.

Kings lose once again to the Memphis Grizzlies in the G1C for the 2nd time this season. It was unfortunately a similar showing that the Kings are well known for, be competitive for a half, and then completely fall apart in the 2nd. It's an all too familiar story for the Kings and one doesn't look to get any better any time soon.

The Kings lose an ugly game to Clippers in the G1C in their final game before Christmas. Haliburton, despite a magnificent 22 point 13 assist game, had 7 turnovers, Buddy was 5-22 from the field, Holmes in his return, only played 17 minutes but had 3 turnovers. All this on top of the fact half of the King's regular rotation is still out in Health and Safety Protocols.

One may look at this 5 game stretch as a success, considering the circumstances, or as a disaster as the Kings are only 3 games out of last place in the Western Conference. The Kings are desperately waiting for reinforcements and hopefully this 3 day break for Kings brings them some much needed good news.

As a bonus, Owen and Fong discuss a bit about the MVP race and in the process discover that Fong is a big Bulls fan.

Due to technical difficulties, we are going to be including a 3 games in one episode bundle. The first 3 games was against the Grizzlies, whom the Kings had to face with almost half of their regular rotation missing. They went up 15 in the 2nd quarter but made a series silly mistakes that let the Grizzlies take the lead back before the half and they never looked back. 

Next up was the Spurs, who the Kings had face again with half their roster in health and safety protocols. The Kings fought and managed to pull out a gutsy win against San Antonio on their home floor with multiple players stepping up to give them the win. 

They then travelled to the Bay to face the newly resurrected Dynasty Warriors where they hung around and threatened to take the game way longer than they had any right to be on a 2nd night of a back to back with much of their roster out. It wasn't until a late 4th quarter barrage by the Warriors that they were able to finally put the Kings away for good.

The theme for these 3 games is that the Kings came in short handed in all of them and no one would bat an eye if they had been blown out in all of them, but the Kings had shown a type of grit that had been missing from the team. Is this a turning point in the season? Is this an influence of Doug Christie at the helm? 

Only time will tell as the question unfortunately for the Kings has been for too long is whether they can sustain these kinds of performances long term. Will this run be any different? Or is this a just another high point for the Kings in the season before inevitably falling flat on their face again and the cycle repeats itself?

The Kings get a nice home win against the struggling Wizards on their home floor in the G1C. The Kings looked sluggish for parts of the game and at any point would let a slight lead snowball to a 20+ point deficit. But the Kings fought, and never let the slight deficits get too out of control until they unleashed their own avalanche in the 4th quarter to win the game going away. Good win for the Kings and a much needed one after 3 soul-killing defeats in a row.

It was the first win for Acting Head Coach Doug Christie, but this was the only the 2nd and 3rd biggest story of the last 2 days for the Kings unfortunately. The biggest news to come out was the wave of health and safety protocol news hit the Kings starting with Alvin Gentry, shortly after, Marvin and Terence Davis were also reported to have entered. This was followed by reports of De'Aaron Fox, Alex Len and Louis King all entering health and safety protocols the next day. This was a harsh reminder for the NBA and society at large that Covid-19 is still very much an issue at large and it will be very interesting the next few days and weeks to see how the Kings handle this situation and how the NBA will handle the much larger issue of so many teams see their players entering health and safety protocols.

The Kings lose their season series against the Raptors with a decisive defeat in Toronto. The Raps were bigger, stronger and longer at just about every position and they used those gifts to pressure the Kings until they folded. It is the 3rd loss in a row for the Kings and this gets the Kings an 0-3 record on this road trip. 

The Kings will have to find a way to repair their broken spirits after another disastrous road trip and head home to try and regroup and hopefully come out for a strong showing against the faltering Wizards.

The Kings open their east coast road trip with a heartbreaking loss in Charlotte with 7 of their players missing, followed up by a ass whooping by the Cavaliers. One common theme in these 2 losses, the Kings not playing any defense and allowing the opposing team to do whatever they want. The Kings have a lot of self reflection to do before they head into Toronto on Monday, and try and rediscover the fight they had earlier in the season. If not, Monte McNair will have to bring it in from players from other teams.

Kings take care of business against the Magic on their home floor in the G1C and win 142-130. Defense was very much optional in this game, but the Kings played just enough of it to hold the Magic at bay. This gives the Kings a 3 game winning streak and actually puts them a half-game ahead of the Blazers in the standings, moving them into the 10th spot in the Western Conference. 

They now head to Charlotte on Friday in the start of a 3 game east coast road trip. The Kings have some momentum now, will they build upon it and seize the opportunity?

The Kings beat the Clippers for the 1st time ever in the Golden 1 Center on Saturday night! The Kings played terrific on both ends of the court throughout, and were able to hold off the Clippers late with the help of a white hot Terence Davis to seal the victory. 

With these 2 victories against the Clippers, the Kings have recaptured some momentum and seemingly some of their confidence back. Will they keep building on it as they take on the Magic on Wednesday? The Kings will get a long rest before that game so they will have plenty of time to recharge their batteries and hopefully get some guys back that have been on the shelf.

The Kings go into LA in the 2nd game of a back to back and handle business the Clippers. Yes, the Kings handled business, it's actually possible. After the loss against the Lakers, the Kings managed to pick up the pieces and regroup to get this victory against the Clippers without Paul George. 

Did the Kings figure something out in this game, is there something they can build off of? This gives Alvin Gentry a 3-3 record to start his head coaching run in Sacramento.
