Chapter 2: Rogues and Sinners, from A Treasury of Jewish Folklore.
In this episode of the Sacrilegious Book Club, topics include Liars and Braggarts; Misers and Stingy Men; and Sinners:
silly lies; truthfulness; brazen birds; Solomon's powers of sorcery; warnings against fanaticism; generous party-goers; holier-than-thou saints; and taking care of aging parents.
Next time, we will cover some entries from Cantors. We hope you'll get a copy of the book and read along with us.

so it's time for Husband and Wife to play another round of a game called You're Always Wrong (along with a special discussion about how women are treated in the Old Testament).
You may be shocked to learn that we've found a few contradictions in the Bible. No wonder it's so easy to cherry-pick quotes to back up any claim!

And we learn an interesting interpretation that places this story in an all new light! We think it's an operatic love triangle that was likely performed on stage before a live audience, and the text ended up in Solomon's library. The Jewish and Christian traditions can keep their childish allegories. The Kabbalists can keep their silly mysticism. And the Mormons can ... well ... keep on omitting this book entirely (Husband kind of messed this up in the podcast). This story deserves to sit right next to other great love triangles of the ages: Twilight, Casablanca, The Great Gatsby, Wuthering Heights, and Beverly Hills 90210.

This chapter contains convos between the woman and the daughters of Jerusalem; the woman and her grody brothers; and finally, the woman and her pedophile beau. The term "woman" is doing some heavy lifting here because she was actually only like 12, per her own brothers who opine on the tiny size of her tits. You know — remember her grape-sized beeboos from the last chapter? But dang, this kid is DTF and is even willing to pay Solomon to stroll thru her lady garden. She thinks love "burns like blazing fire" but actually that's just chafing.

This chapter contains a poem in which the man describes the body of the woman, his lover, from toe to head, followed by the woman's invitation to the man. We learn her hair is like a fancy blanket, her schnozzola is huge, and her titties are lumpy. Her mother must be so proud.

This chapter contains a dialogue between the daughters of Jerusalem and the woman about the man, followed by a repeat of the man's "descriptive" poem of the woman, and ending with a collective call to the woman to return. She finds the man enjoying his garden which definitely sounds like a euphemism for an orgy, especially after he checks his nuts (DEEZ nuts!) and boasts about all the women he's bedded (140 officially + numerous one-offs with all the virgins whose various cherries he popped). He can't even remember her name so he just refers to her as the city she's from. It's all very romantic.

Topics include a discussion on occupied lands with a slant toward understanding why Hamas attacked Israel. Spoilers: The attack didn't come out of nowhere, and it didn't occur in a vacuum.

This chapter opens with the man's eager agreement to come drink up all his lover's various body juices. The woman had just put on her pj's tho, so at first she's like, "ugh, not tonight," but then she changes her mind and opens her leggos. Alas, he wasn't that into rejection, and he moved on to some other honey-lipped vixen. Our girl is a bit obsessed, so she runs out in her jammies (in the middle of the night!) to look for him all over the city. The guards assault her and all she can think of is, "My boyfriend is so dang HAWT and I can't wait to bang him!" which you have to admit is a super weird reaction.

This chapter contains the man's descriptive poem of the woman's body and the invitation to be together which is accepted by the woman. She has goat hair and sheepy chompers. Her face is like a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. Dem titties tho! And zowie! That yummy vagina-cave with its flowing fountain of aromatic sex-juice! He didn't mention her feet, which leads me to believe she has craggled ogre stompers and toenails begging for a good pedi. But at least he gets consent before diving into all this vixen's honey-dipped wares. (Spoilers: She says YES.)
