It’s hockey day! Get excited! Cards had their end of the season presser yesterday and Gaines is not thrilled about the attitude displayed. Did John Mozeliak fake his way from being a fly fishing guide into being a baseball exec? The firing of Lilliquist seems weird to Gaines, who thinks those would be reasons to fire Matheny instead. Joined by Emily Kaplan of ESPN to talk about her fantastic feature on Vladimir Tarasenko as well as other stories she’s writing throughout the NHL. Auston Matthews has a bad Q-rating because he plays hockey. Covering teams and drawing lines when you work with players every day is hard. Darren Rovell wanted more soft serve ice cream.

hockey and specifically the Jagr signing. He talks the Blues opening
the season. Lavar Ball is pulling Lamelo out of school. Big Ballers
for life, Gaines says. The Fair or Foul and Morning Melee are released
to close out the hour.

There is a playoff baseball game today between the Yankees and Twins.What is the excitement for playoff baseball. This NCAA thing is far
from over. A lot of nonsense talk for the majority of the hour. There
was some talk about trading Travis to iheartradio. Fair or Foul is
read to close out the show as It does every day.

Jeff kicks off the Wake Up Hour by breaking down the Blues roster to start the season and talking about the Cardinals plan moving forward. The heavy weather and the heavy politics have everyone in a bad mood but it’s important to find something fun. Travis shows up to break down Jagr, Bartolo Colon, and how it feels to be old. Gaines arrives just in time to talk about the Belleville Chili Cook-Off and whether or not Belleville needs a downtown. People from Illinois love Abe Lincoln, even when he’s hunting vampires. Gaines and Travis are going to have to come to a remote in Springfield. 

Tom Petty dead at the age of 66. Travis is trying to trade other
people instead of Tom Petty. Jeff is an expert on Golden Girls. Adam
Sandler is a dope dude. Some rotten tomatoes scores are read for
terrible Will Ferrell movies. A Gone with the Wind star died of
tuberculosis. Jeff is going to cover the clean out day for the
Cardinals today. Chris thought he was going to meet Alonzo Mourning
one time and decided to ride his horse instead.

The Cardinals season is over and it’s fairly frustrating. Playing out the string is a hard thing to do and it’s frustrating for Aledmys Diaz for his season to end the way it did. Gaines is reluctant to get in to Blues talk but it’s largely unavoidable at this point. Which players with the same numbers are most alike and different? Both guys named Sam in St. Louis are number 64. There’s never been a guy named Sam who played for the Blues, which is weird. Wrapping up the hour with cuts of our trip out to Troy, IL for youth football this weekend!
