Same Team Y'all! episodes

  • STY #019- She Knows How To Do a Gun!
Well, loo-dy-doo and lad-ti-da, its another episode of Same Team Y’all!
In this episode, Eric and Tess discuss the Netflix show “The Punisher,” spending time with family over Thanksgiving, autoharps, and Freya…. so much Freya talk.  Eric has another #grownmancrying moment talking about the Muppets, and Tess has a simple, yet very important, life lesson to share.
They also get a chance to read some emails from their valued listeners.  What’s up Ms. Liz!
    Enjoy!

  • STY #018- Sweet Patootie
Hang onto your cuppa tea! It’s another great episode of Same Team Y’all! Eric’s running a marathon, Tess is marathoning “The Punisher,” and they’re both gushing about “Thor: Raganarok” and Lady Gaga! Kids say the darndest things, as we learn in this episode’s “Tales from the Library,” and in this episode’s “Freya Watch” we discuss the ethical dilemma of telling kids about Santa Claus. What life lessons can one learn from the new “Justice League” movie? Listen to find out! Warmest regards to all our friends in law enforcement!

  • STY #017- Comme ci, comme ça
Eric and Tess. Back again. To talk about Super Mario Bros, Stranger Things, weddings, and more! We question whether cooking and sewing are feminine skills or just plain skills, whether getting flowers at work is cozy or creepy, and who decided there was an age that you graduate out of trick or treating. Plus we’ve got not one, not two, but four life lessons for you! Welcome to the no judgement zone of no judging! We think you’re great!

  • STY #016- If You See a Crocodile
This episode is jam packed! With content! But also some weird noises! Please bear with us as we adjust to our ever changing recording set up. We start the episode strong with a discussion of “Welcome Back Kotter,” nonchalant tattoos, Eric’s nephew’s first words, true crime, RPG video games, and the California wild fires. Whew! From there we learn some new variations of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” and talk about how hard it is to get teenagers to come to the library. Then we find out what Freya’s been eating lately, why Einstein didn’t wear socks, and Eric reads us a children’s book. Try not to get an inferiority complex comparing yourself to our producer: Be the Brett YOU wish to see in the world!

  • STY #015- The Post LexiCon Episode
Eric and Tess are flying high after an amazing experience at LexiCon! They’re also talking about the delightful DuckTales reboot, how to overcome your fear of clowns, and how Neil Degrasse Tyson blew up Pluto, or something like that. In a jam packed “Tales from the Library” they talk about a much better alternative ending to “The Little Mermaid,” and more. Find out who the cutest baby is in this episode’s “Freya Watch,” and more ideas for intentional acts of kindness in this episode’s “Life Lessons.” Don’t forget to check out our crossover episode with the “Rather Be Playing” podcast, particularly if you’re a fan of bromance!

  • STY #014- The Big Sexy Episode
In this very special episode of “Same Team Y’all” we interview our friend, and favorite comic book store employee, Shaun AKA Big Sexy! We talk about superheroes, American history, and IRL same team y’all moments. He joins us for “Stuff We Love” where Tess talks a lot about Ducks, Shaun shares his life long passion for RPGs, and Eric tells us what Netflix shows he’s been enjoying lately. There’s an eye opening “Freya Watch” where we get to learn about the “butt spatula,” and in our “Life Lessons” segment we question whether or not it’s wise to write off individuals based on their political alignment. Thanks to everyone who has rated and/or reviewed our podcast and/or followed us on Twitter! We’re honored to be on the same team as you!

  • STY #013- Feel Good About Pumpkins
There’s a chill in the air, and the smell of pumpkin spice, as fall approaches, and Eric and Tess are predictably very excited about it. What else are they excited about? So glad you asked! Beer tea bags, Justin from tech support, H.P. Lovecraft, ’70’s game shows, Star Wars, and Wonder Woman! Also: we’re getting hyped for LexiCon (coming to the Lexington Park Library, October 7), Freya’s getting swim lessons, and our NEW PRODUCER is doing intentional acts of kindness! Don’t forget to say something nice about yourself during the positivity party, because we love you!

  • STY #012- Beer is an Art Form
It’s Eric and Tess’s one year podcasting anniversary!!  To celebrate they discuss the new Ruby Tuesdays salad bar, the TV show Defenders, how to have fun at the Gettysburg Brew Fest, and why you shouldn’t grab a stranger’s baby.  They both share their experience with the eclipse and how making an effort to have fun in a difficult situation can make all the difference in the world.
    Enjoy!

  • STY #011- Consensual Hugs Are Appropriate
What’s the deal with this podcast?  Tess and Eric talk “War for the Planet of the Apes”, the spacial logistics of being a librarian, a life lesson learned from a little orange frog, and feel the need to explain what the heck their podcast is all about.
As always, you’re looking great today.  Thanks for listening!

  • STY #010- Love Rhombus
Some things discussed in this spectacular episode: “War and Peace,” the new Justice League trailer, the comic book artist Sophie Campbell, library day at the local baseball diamond, and how shifting our perspective beyond our own two eyes can help us better understand ourselves and the world around us.
Eric also has two borderline rants involving the Justice League movie, and an epiphany he achieved while meditating on a tennis court in the predawn hours.
An important conversation also develops over the book “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas and the importance of realizing we’re all on the same team especially in the wake of great tragedies.
This is a deep one, but one of our best.  We hope you enjoy.
