The Kurds have often been described as the largest ethnic group in the world without their own state, numbering somewhere between 25 to 35 million in population. They mostly live in a region often referred to as Kurdistan, which stretches across the borders of Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey.

Kulasegaram Sanchayan talks to writer, journalist and former executive producer of SBS Kurdish, Chahin Baker to understand the nuances of Who the Kurds are, why they don’t identify with the Arabs, the differences, why we hear so many different names (e.g., PKK, YPG, Peshmerga, and HDP, ehy have they not been given a state of their own when States and Countries were formed, why does not the UN just let the Kurds have Kurdistan, etc.
