மூன்று பாகங்களாக ஒலிபரப்பாகும் இந்த நேர்காணலில், இளங்கோவின் கண்பார்வை சவாலாக அமைவதற்கான பின்னணிக் காரணம், சிறு வயதில் அவருக்கு ஊக்கம் கொடுத்தவர் யார் என்பன பற்றியும் ஒரு பிரபல மேடைப்பேச்சாளராக அவர் எப்படி உருவானார் என்பது பற்றியும் இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில்.

Ilango is a public speaker, Musician / Singer, Entrepreneur, Mentor, Author, Voice Over artist, and Television presenter.  In this first of the three-part interview with this multi-faceted, brilliantly talented Ilango talks our presenter Kulasegaram Sanchayan about his background, influences in his formative years, and how Ilango endured as a public speaker.

The general election for all 543 parliament seats in India will be held from 7 April to 12 May. It is estimated there are 81.45 crores of eligible voters in India, the largest democracy in the world.

Though there are numerous parties contesting in this election, no party was able to form a government without the support of the regional parties including those from Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Varagunan Mahadevan is not just a medical practitioner, but also a theatre personality, broadcaster, singer, multi-facet musician and a presenter on Television in Toronto, Canada.

The federal government has announced legislative changes it says will make it easier for Australians to adopt children from overseas.

But some say the amendments will have little impact and much more needs to be done to reform the nation’s adoption system.

Howard Debenham was raised in Queanbeyan and Canberra. Joining the still fledgling Department of External Affairs in 1961, his career in Australias Foreign Service took him through eleven overseas postings in nine countries – India twice, South Korea, Japan twice, Israel, Italy, Yugoslavia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and the USA.

He became a member of the Senior Executive of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Consul-General in Bangkok and Tokyo, Minister/Counsellor and Consul-General in Washington DC, and High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.

From a rich enough bush heritage and a sometimes testing childhood in hometown Australia, the river of his working life rounded many bends and delivered experiences which ranged widely from dangerous and ugly to exhilarating, humbling and humorous.

His recollections provide a candid, refreshing and at times irreverent insight into life in Australias Foreign Service.

Howard Debenham talks to our presenter Kulasegaram Sanchayan about his book, “Waiting ’round the Bend” and his life journey.

The lyrics of the song “Moon River” featured in this interview was written by Johnny Mercer and singer Jerry Butler’s hit single from late 1961 (it reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in December, two weeks before Mancini’s recording reached the same spot.)  Henry Mancini’s composition received an Academy Award for Best Original Song for its first performance by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and won Mancini the 1962 Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Mercer the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. Since its original performance, the song has been covered by many other artists including Andy Williams who made it his theme song.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) are investigating numerous instances of voters casting more than one ballot in last September’s election.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has revealed that almost two-thousand other (1979) people have admitted voting more than once, and some have been referred to the A-F-P for investigation.

And the AEC says almost 19-thousand (18,770) letters have been sent to other electors who had multiple marks recorded beside their names.

Mr Muguntharaj Subramaniam is one of the greatest contributors to the Tamil Language computing world.  Tamils in Australia are honoured that he is living amongst our midst.  Mr Muguntharaj Subramaniam talks to our producer Kulasegaram Sanchayan on his background, how he got interested in computing, and in particular in Tamil language, as well as his current and future ventures.

வங்காள தேச அரசாங்கத்தின் முயற்சிகள், அனைத்துலக அமைப்புகளது ஆதரவுகள் காரணமாக ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் கல்வி, அறிவியல், பண்பாட்டு நிறுவனத்தால் (UNESCO) ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அமைப்பின் 1999, பெப்ரவரி 21 பொது மாநாட்டின் 30 ஆவது அமர்வில் இந்நாளை அனைத்துலக தாய் மொழிநாளாக அறிவித்தது. பல்வேறு சமூகங்களின் மொழி, பண்பாட்டுத் தனித்தன்மைகளைப் பேணுவதுடன் அவற்றுக்கிடையிலான ஒற்றுமையையும் உருவாக்கும் எண்ணத்தோடு இந்த நாளை யுனெசுக்கோ அறிவித்தது. 2000 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் இந்த நாளானது உலகம் முழுவதும் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகின்றது.

International Mother Language Day is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. It was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999. Its observance was also formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.

International Mother Language Day has been observed every year since 2000 February to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The date represents the day in 1952 when students from different educational institutions such as Dhaka University , Jagannath University , Dhaka Medical College demonstrating for recognition of their language, Bengali, as one of the two national languages of the then Pakistan, were shot and killed by police in Dhaka (near High Court), which is the capital of present day Bangladesh.
