• Miffed that DeSantis was too busy actually governing instead of taking her phone calls, Harris decided to crawl out of the basement for a couple of interviews. And what did she go with? Meaningless soundbites on a sex talk podcast and The View. 
• As if Republicans don’t have enough to worry about with the varying poll results for the 2024 Election, the most conservative parts of swing state North Carolina were also hardest hit during Hurricane Helene. This could disproportionately affect the conservative cause.
• George Soros has asked the FCC to streamline his takeover of 200 radio stations. Regardless of your political position, I feel like it’s blatantly obvious that one entity owning that many media assets is bad for both freedom of the press and democracy itself.
• Layoffs were up 53% in September when compared to 2023. Regardless of who wins the 2024 election, America may be headed for some tough economic times.
• Hillary Clinton, Miss Irrelevancy herself, wants to repeal Section 230 because censorship would disproportionately benefit her party. Quite the Bitter Old Biddy!
• Chinese hackers have stolen information from U.S. broadband providers that was intended for court-authorized wiretapping. We MUST do better at hardening our digital security and computer infrastructure.
• A rescue dog in Washington state stopped traffic and led a policeman into the woods to her injured 84-year-old owner, saving his life in return.

• Trump’s campaign has been ordered to stop using music by Isaac Hayes, the latest in a line of legal issues they’ve had with music licensing. There’s an actual process for using music in a political campaign, and I get into it this week!
• Professor Amy Wax recently grabbed the national spotlight when her comments about minority students went viral. We sat down this week to talk about affirmative action, her being rebranded a racist, and how UPenn first attacked and then tried to silence her.

• The loss and devastation caused by Hurricane Helene is staggering – and this is coming from the Gulf Coast, where we certainly see our share. I urge all levels of government to act now to help the rebuilding effort. There is no time to play politics on this!

• The VP debate was, candidly, a big yawn. It represents 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back, and was simply irrelevant to the presidential election.
• China’s newest nuclear submarine sank in its dock, which is admittedly a little funny. But the U.S. must develop a major fleet of nuclear subs, while continuing to advance technologically, to ensure it remains in control.
• Ford has announced the Support Belt, which is a seat belt accessory meant to help mastectomy patients ride comfortably in cars – and they’re giving them away for free on their website.

• The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Republicans, who sued to reinstate a law that requires Arizona voters to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
• SCOTUS recently ruled that pregnant women in Idaho who are facing medical emergencies can still receive abortions when medically necessary – for now.

• Nearly half the states have sued the EPA over its extremely controversial new methane gas rules, criticizing the new technology that would be used to monitor emissions as well as the short timeframe and projected high costs for consumers.
