While watching the Church services we follow this morning, I was suddenly struck by parallels from how the same people who flaunt the Constitution and the goals of the Declaration of Independence while claiming to be patriots also do the same thing with the Bible, particularly the New Testament while claiming to be good "Christians".  My thoughts were not really political or religious but rather amazed by the similarities.  Thanks for listening and God Bless......

Martin Luther King, jr was assassinated in April, 54 years ago.  One of his most important goals was voting rights for people of color.  The Voting Rights Act of 1965 gave that right.  However, it spawned attempts by Southern States to abridge those rights.  Many of those who went to help register people of color were attacked and even murdered, both Black and White.  Those very rights are once again under attack in states ran by the GOP that seem to want to please a man who refuses to accept the will of the majority....let's remember Martin Luther King, jr by resisting this undemocratic movement.  that is today's message.  God Bless and Protect You All.  CM

On this Christmas Eve, I believe what we need most is love.  Love of each other, love of God and even love of ourselves.  I hope this Christmas message finds its way into your heart.  In the immortal words of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, 'All You Need is Love". Today we remember the event that was to change this country forever.  The Japanese attack on our bases in Hawaii.  Over 2000 Americans died in this devastating attack. It would soon lead to my father heading into the Pacific Island hopping campaign that would cost many of his comrades their very life.  For the most part they readily volunteered to fight to save Democracy from the dictatorships. Hundreds of thousands gave their lives with many more severely wounded. But save Democracy they did from this foreign enemy.  We were a nation united in that goal to defeat the enemy we could see.  We now have an unseen but even deadlier threat that not only threatens lives but the very fabric of our nation.  Instead of uniting to destroy this enemy, we refuse to talk to each other to find common ground.  Thousands are dying as we remember the sacrifices of that Sunday in December 1941.  Let's look to see what we once again want our nation to be......E Pluribus Unum: Latin for from many, one......
