"Straight Outta Brownsville/Crazy animators named Fleischer/Won't ever be a studio that was nicer..." OK, OK, sorry. Couldn't resist. But yes, today's show features a discussion about the history of the Fleischer cartoon studio in New York City (and briefly in Miami). Max Fleischer and his brother Dave not only gave the world cartoon characters like Koko the Clown, Betty Boop, and the animated versions of Popeye and Superman, but inventions such as the rotoscope that are essential to animation production to this day.
In addition, we also talk about the family drama behind the scenes of the "Steve Jobs" film, what we think of the new "Daily Show" with Trevor Noah, why "black-ish" and "The Flash" are still awesome, and what "Empire" would be like if it were set at Hitsville USA 50 years ago.
