Hey YOU! Welcome back to the podcast. Today I will share with you how I survived the first week of virtual school and we will also be talking about anxiety. I know...perfect timing, right? LOL
Anxiety is your body's natural response to stress, uncertainty, fear, danger, etc. It's a feeling of fear or apprehension about what's to come. We all deal with anxiety on some level. Although anxiety usually doesn’t go away, you can learn to manage it and live a happy, healthy life.
So today we will be discussing what anxiety is, some natural remedies to relieve some of the stress and anxiety you may cope with every day and how to identify and support the children in your care who may be dealing with anxiety.

Cultivating a night time routine is an amazing practice that better supports our mental health. This is a great way to give yourself the gift of ease with your morning tasks. However, an effective night time routine has to have a proper foundation.
When building your nighttime routine, ask yourself: How do I want to feel in the mornings? Once you’ve answered this question, then you can establish habits to support your goals. Your ideal nighttime routine will be unique to you, so personalize your night time routine with activities and habits you find relaxing and helpful.
For me a night time routine is vital because I value waking up at 5:30 am to practice my self care routine of exercising, planning my day and spending time with myself. Listen in as I share my night time routine that allows me to go to bed by 9:30 am so that I am up at 5:30 am.
I would love to hear what your routines are, so leave a comment below or connect with me on twitter. Self-care is an ever evolving process, sharing ideas helps the process grow.

It’s the beginning of the school year for most of us. Though there are certainly things I love about this time of year, it is challenging-especially during COVID-19. Now more than ever is the time to talk about giving yourself grace. When you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed by a packed schedule or you've been hard on yourself for whatever reason, it's important to pause and give yourself grace. Giving yourself grace is about giving yourself the kindness you need. This is the same kindness that you would extend to your best friend when they are going through a rough patch.
Listen in as we discuss some ways that you can give yourself grace and further support your well being at this busy time of year or at any time of year that things feel out of control.

As the nation becomes more aware of systems of oppression, such as police brutality and murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, strong feelings of anger, anxiety, and depression can set in. Experiencing acts of racism is exhausting for Black people. This is why self-care in the age of Black Lives Matter is crucial in protecting your mental health. It focuses on what we do individually to make sure we’re OK.
In order to feel empowered, fueled, and to be in a position to make a difference in this unjust society we must be able to function at our optimal best. To do so we must take a step back and ensure that we are taking good care of our physical and mental health.
I would like to share a few tips with you on how you can go about doing this. And I would also like to hear from you about how you are supporting your mental health. Listen in to join the conversation.

Welcome back! In today’s episode, we will discuss the concept of self-care planning. A self-care plan can help you enhance your health and well-being by reducing stress and aiding in the maintenance of a healthy balanced lifestyle. There is no “one-size-fits-all” self-care plan, therefore, you have to be intentional about creating an individualized self-care plan that can help you ensure that you are doing enough to look after yourself. Listen in as we further define a self-care plan, why it is important, and strategies to start planning your own personal self-care routine.
