South Africa has recently seen school based violence escalate to levels of murder of a teacher by a learner, filming of fist fights as well as a learner being stabbed with a pair of scissors. Trade Union SADTU has expressed its concern for the safetey of its teachers whilst School Governing Bodies say its unacceptable that a learner can threaten a teacher when the relationship between the two should be the same as parent and child.
