There have been a Hill of a lot of adaptations of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. In this episode, Nathaniel boggles Max's mind by revealing how much Shirley Jackson trumps Stephen King's writing as well as by going over the actual plot of the book and two films versus the Netflix series, which is an adaptation in only the loosest sense but is awesome nonetheless. They also find a strangely specific repetitive formula in showrunner Mike Flanagan's body of work.

Nathaniel and Max finally get around to talking about one of the most influential horror movies/novels of all-time, The Exorcist, then dig into the less-good-but-still-decent sequel, Legion (filmed as The Exorcist 3). Then in a special Occult Corner, Max digs into Pazuzu and the origins of many demonic figures as ancient civilizations' gods and is punished for shining that light on Pazuzu's origins by having his internet eaten as a demonic late night snack.

In honor of Halloween, we mix things up by exploring some of the original horror films that helped shape horror films for us today: Nosferatu, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and The Wolf Man. We're joined by classic film buff Brett Odom who helps us properly explore and see the ways these films are still defining the genre today.

It's our 1-year podiversary, and in honor of that important date, we dig into one of our favorite horror movies of 2018, A Quiet Place, with special guest Taylor Haslem! Max and Nathaniel continue their coverage of their favorite horror movie of the year (so far) with another interview, this time with Marshall D. Moore of Utah Film Studios. In addition to shedding some excellent insight on the film, he also gives us a taste of what it was like to work on 2 Nightmare on Elm Street films. Max's Occult Corner continues the Hereditary scares by digging into the film's demon, Paimon, and in Studying the Strange, Nathaniel gives a brief history of Gothic literature.

Nathaniel and Max are in love with the new horror film Hereditary, and because it was filmed just a few cities away, they contacted the studio involved and were given the chance to interview some of the people involved! In the first of two episodes covering Hereditary they interview the film's line producer, Scott E. Chester, and give their impressions of the film.
