Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), a devoted businessman, is about to celebrate his 65th birthday. The two strike a deal where Bill will be given a few extra days of life if he can be Death's guide and teaching him what it is like to be human. it's the perfect arrangement, until Joe falls in love with Susan (Claire Forlani), who is one of Bill's daughters.

University of Oregon's track team's head coach, Bill Bowerman (Donald Sutherland), recruits Steve Prefontaine (Billy Crudup), an exemplary track-and-field high school star. The desert planet Arrakis is the source of the universe's most valuable resource called "spice" that allows users to travel vast distances. Spice mining is controlled by the evil Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard), whose armies oppress the planet's Fremen people. Under an imperial decree from the Emperor, Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) takes over the stewardship of Arrakis and moves there with his wife, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), and son, Paul (Timothee Chalamet). Once on Arrakis, the Freman begin to suspect that Paul may be a prophesied "chosen one."

Dune is undeniably staggering in its beauty. However, for viewers not familiar with the source material or David Lynch's 1984 film, they may find themselves slightly bored and scratching their heads trying to figure out how the pieces fit together. Dune is an immersive, but incomplete experience. Still, the film duly whets your appetite for a part two.

Detective Byron Crawford (Emile Hirsch) is investigating a string of murdered young women that appear to be serial killings along Interstate 10 in Pensacola, Florida. He is soon joined by two undercover FBI agents, Rebecca Lombardo (Megan Fox) and Karl Helter (Bruce Willis), who have been working a separate sex-trafficking ring. Before long, the three realize that they're looking for the same suspect and set up a trap to catch the killer, Peter Hillborough (Lukas Haas), before he can strike again.

If you are thinking of catching this film because you're a Bruce Willis fan and the above synopsis sounds interesting: don't. There is a rumor that Willis' scenes were all shot within a day and it shows. It is apparent he couldn't care less about this role and his acting is akin to cardboard. He is clearly reading from a script off-camera during some scenes. It's probably a good thing he's only on-screen for a total of about 10-minutes.

Willis isn't the only problem with the film, however. The narration is all over the place and the music selection is atrocious. The movie is so bland, generic, and inept that it feels a little bit too ambitious for all players involved.

In her creepy rundown mansion on Sunset Boulevard, aging silent screen star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) dreams of reviving her long-gone film career. by happenstance, Norma runs into Joe Gillis (William Holden), who owes a lot of money. Gloria sees her opportunity and asks Joe to help her finish a script that will put her back in the spotlight, while Joe merely sees a hefty paycheck. When Joe falls in love for the young aspirant writer Betty Schaefer (Nancy Olson), Norma becomes jealous and completely insane and her madness leads to a tragic end.
