Have you ever had a job where you started watching the clock the minute you walked in the door, or sat down at your desk?
If the answer is yes, you’re not alone.
Conference Board surveys tell us that 53 percent of Americans are currently unhappy at work (Forbes). Truth is the number may even be higher. Gallup reports that a staggering 87% of employees worldwide are not engaged. Can you be disengaged at work and happy with your job?
Kristen Sherry is a career consultant with 1,000+ clients, a public speaker and the author of three career books. The numbers don’t surprise Kristen. For years, her first waking thought was, "What day is it?" If Monday, her stomach churned. If the weekend, a flood of relief. Like so many people Kristen thought this was part of life.
But is it? We don’t grow up dreaming about getting a job that will make us miserable. And logic says that if your job sucks, you should look for a different job. Easy, right?
It should be, but it’s not. And Kristen says she knows why.
People don't know WHY they're unhappy at work or what fulfillment looks like.
On the surface, this seems hard to believe. But Kristen has proof. Kristen takes notes when her clients say they’re unhappy. Then she takes them through her YOU MAP process that reveals the true reasons they’re unhappy. The answers are not the same.
In this episode Kristen talks about her new book, “YouMap: Find Yourself. Blaze Your Path. Show the World”! and explains the process she uses to help her clients achieve career clarity and execute a winning job search.

The holiday season is upon us, and this time of the year often brings unwelcome guests - stress and depression.
According to the New York Post 31% of Americans describe the holiday season as frantic (Festive Stress is Ruining America’s Holiday Season). It’s no wonder.
The holiday season comes with a dizzying array of demands - parties, shopping, entertaining and cleaning, just to name a few. This is a time of the year when money, or lack of money, leaves people frustrated and often times feeling helpless. And how about the general expectation that everyone must be in the holiday spirit, 24 x 7?
Stats also show that thirty-five percent of American workers report an increase in work related stress (Safety and Health Magazine) during the holiday season. Balancing holiday events and work obligations, having fewer people around to share the workload, and knowing that time off often means returning to a heavy workload in January are just a few of the reasons.
Feeling stressed? Ed Andrew’s says the first thing you should do is get unplugged and get outdoors, adding that there is scientific evidence to support this suggestion.

“Engagement and Community Give You the Platform.
The Platform does not give you Community.”
There is so much noise on the internet these days, and a lot of it is coming from people who don’t understand this basic concept.
More than 50 years ago, Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase “The Medium is the Message.” For many people the idea was as strange as experimental format of his book- collage style with text superimposed on visual elements and vice versa. Some pages are printed backwards and are meant to be read in a mirror. Some are intentionally left blank. Most contain photographs and images both modern and historic, juxtaposed in startling ways.
In the context of today’s world, McLuhan’s message is more easily understood. Spend less time worrying about making a perfect video, and more time on communication authentic messages that provide real value. Engagement and community will follow. Goldie drills down on this message.

Avery Konda is an Entrepreneur, Podcast Host, and and Angel Investor in 18 startups. Not bad for a guy who is only 23 years old.
Avery thinks big. He’s seeking opportunities to make large scale social impact, and in his words is driven to being very disruptive. That means taking on traditional systems or legacy projects that have build generations of distrust and generations of missed opportunity or inequality.
Avery does that an Angel Investor and through his work as Chief Community Engagement Officer at Tandempark, the first online volunteer ecosystem of its kind. Avery is not hesitant to state that Tandempark will the biggest disrupter that industry has ever seen.
Avery credits much of his fast start to the opportunities provided him when he was student at Georgian College, the first ChangeMaker College in Canada certified by Ashoka. While still in College, Avery managed a budget of $250,000.

When you’re going 200 mph (320 kph) the choices you make can be the difference between life and death. Or at the very least, between finishing the race safely and having your car towed off the track.
Kevin Bulmer knows a thing or two about car racing. Kevin was once the General Manager of a place called the Delaware Speedway, the first-ever Nascar sanctioned track in Canada.
He also knows first hand that the choices we make in our life have consequences. In his case those choices led to problems with alcohol, a divorce, and poor health that resulted from his drive to climb the corporate ladder. To use a racing analogy, Kevin was going in circles, running someone else’s race.
Today Kevin is Business Marketing and Mindset Coach. He shows people how to run their own race, and challenges them to make choices that align with the things they care about.
