There is the danger of thinking of unity in terms of uniformity. Our tendency is to think of unity as consisting of a number of things which are absolutely identical in every single respect, with no difference at all, such as manufactured items coming off an assembly line. Any conception of unity which equates it with uniformity detracts from the essential greatness and glory of unity.

“Our Father…” With those simple yet powerful salutational words, the Lord Jesus Christ confirms an intimate relationship between the disciples and God. The God of heaven is the Christians’ Father. To mention “father” to any person who have gone through or survived painful circumstances from a bad father image, a negative response is understandable. The image of a loving and caring father never comes to their minds. It is only when such people become a Christian that they are given a true intimate picture of fatherhood.
