  • Episode 33 - Demolition Man (Part 1)
It’s a SYNWiS first! Amy and Sarah loved Demolition Man (1993) soooooo much, they just couldn’t stop talking about it. Here’s the first part of their conversation where you’ll learn a lot about Wesley Snipes’ early life as a song and dance man.

  • Episode 32 - Osmosis: The Test
This week, the girls explore a foreign language sci-fi series: Osmosis (2019-). Despite having to read subtitles, this show has a lot to offer. A really sad tech girl who seems to get along best with the AI she invented. A super douchey tech developer who only thinks about himself. And an app that’s designed to make people happy by finding them their soulmate using social media. What could go wrong?

  • Episode 31 - Innerspace
This week’s episode about Innerspace (1987) marks an important moment in the evolution of the podcast. Both Amy and Sarah don’t like it. Chalk it up to absurdist humor that hits their stone hearts like so much dust…

  • Episode 30 - Almost Human: Disrupt
This week, Amy and Sarah talk about a genre both of them actually like: the crime procedural. In this case, it’s a sci-fi take on the reliable formula of an odd couple partnership in Almost Human (2013-2014). Will a gruff (yet handsome) and somewhat broken man gel with his android partner? You’ll have to listen to find out!

  • Episode 29 - Space Truckers
Whooooooo doggie, this one’s a REAL doozie!!! It might sound hard to believe, but there really is a movie called Space Truckers (1996) and it even stars Dennis Hopper. It’s our first request from a listener episode and we will never be the same.

  • Episode 28 - Andromeda: A Symmetry of Imperfection
Returning back to the world of sci-fi TV this week, Amy and Sarah extend the Jason X universe a bit by following Lexa Doig to Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda (2000-2005). Listen along as they talk all the early 2000s clothing and hair styles that manage to make it a whole 3000 years into the future of humanity!

  • Episode 27 - Son of Ingagi
This week the Walsh girls talk about the first sci-fi horror film with an all black cast: Son of Ingagi (1940). Though it might seem progressive now, all black casts were actually pretty common in American movies of the early to mid-20th century. Known as “race films” these movies were made exclusively for Black audiences. Luckily, Son of Ingagi is still sci-fi enough to leave Amy with plenty of questions.

  • Episode 26 - Jason X
It’s our six month anniversary!!! To mark this very special occasion Amy got to pick a movie to discuss and she really picked a doozie. This week, the girls talk about Jason X (2001). It’s a real feast for the eyes and a reminder of just how popular belly shirts were in the early 2000s.

  • Episode 25 - The Man in the High Castle: The New World
This week, Amy and Sarah make a big departure from the realm of the sci fi action film to talk about something significantly more sobering. The Man in the High Castle portrays a world in which Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan won World War II and the United States has been divided into the Greater Nazi Reich, the Japanese Pacific States, and a neutral zone dividing them. As you may have guessed, the outcome isn’t great. The question for this week: does alternate reality count as science fiction?

  • Episode 24 - The Running Man
Strap in, folks, this week’s episode discusses another Arnold Schwarzenegger classic: The Running Man (1987)!!! Listen along as Amy and Sarah come to realize that this movie might be one of the best they’ve watched since starting the podcast. Why? Probably all the totally tubular 80s fashion choices, despite supposedly being set in 2019.
