  • RSP #23 - It Can't Come Soon Enough with Adam Kerr | As Everything Unfolds
As I get older, I'm much more difficult to impress. I've heard a lot of new material from bands that should have that secret sauce, but instead rely on predictability to get somewhere in this business.

Recently, I discovered an amazing new group from the UK, eager to fill the holes left behind by the great emo and hardcore bands that have come before it.

Who is this band, with the seemingly perfect mishmash of influences and genre defying characteristics boldness?

These are the UK upstarts, As Everything Unfolds.

After a few weeks of begging, I was able to snag an interview with songwriter and guitarist Adam Kerr. Adam is a great guy. He's kind, witty, and a great player with a real ear for catchy melodies and chugging riffage. Basically, he's how you want your child to grow up.

Adam and I spent an hour together, really just enjoying a casual conversation about shared musical influences and experiences.

My only gripe comes from the fact that no matter what we did, we constantly dealt with an internet audio pipeline that glitched as often as possible and dropped or hiccupped constantly.... but hey... what'cha gonna do? My apologies....

All said, we hope you enjoy this interview with another future classic.... Mr. Adam Kerr from As Everything Unfolds, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

  • RSP #22 - When Spirit and Soul Collide with Geirmund Hansen | Rendezvous Point | The Voice
Every once in awhile, I speak to someone who makes me reconsider much of what I do. It's rare, but special because it's times like these that I am so deeply honored to have a real connection. I would even say it's been happening a lot lately, as I've been speaking to a number of newer musical artists from Norway.

Geirmund Hansen is one such person.

I fell in love with his voice a few years back when I discovered his immense band, Rendezvous Point, through another musical interest of mine, the Norwegian progressive powerhouse, Leprous. As is often the case anymore, musicians find different projects to be a part of and Baard Kolstad, who drums for Leprous, also has his hands deep in the pockets of Rendezvous Point, his "first love."

This sort of accident found its way into my musical heart where it has taken up residence and refuses to be evicted.

I love Rendezvous Point. To me, they are a perfect band of musicians. 5 incredibly gifted players who have figured out a unique sound and musical counterpoint that slips across musical genres into something stunningly unique. My new friend, Geirmund, is the voice and the soul behind that secret concoction.

I will say nothing more, but I encourage you to listen to the entire hour, because our conversation builds to a conclusion that I didn't see coming. After this show, I think you'll agree.... Geirmund is special. Very special.

This is my interview with the guaranteed future classic, Geirmund Hansen on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

  • RSP #21 - Growing Up On the Same Bowl of Cheerios with Steve Lynch | Autograph | Blue Neptune
An unbelievably talented guitarist, Steve Lynch, of Autograph fame, made time for me today calling in from his home in Florida. Steve is on the cusp of releasing his autobiography and was open to sharing some time talking about his history, his influences, and how he sees life. He's a wonderfully kind man who may never die. Have you seen what this guy looks like? I swear he has discovered the fountain of eternal youth.

I do want to say to all of you listening to this show, thank you in advance for your patience as our interview was a call in. and as it happens with call ins, one can't see the other, so inevitably people are talking over each other. I fear I did this one too many times, and yet Steve was graceful and even grateful of our time. What a trooper. I can't say I deserved to interview him today but I'm sure as heckfire appreciative of the opportunity because Steve is basically a guitar hero and deserves every accolade he receives.

This is my stutter step interview with the 8 finger guitar tapping hair metal legend, Steve Lynch on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

  • Death Brings Life | Rodney Shurelds
I met Rodney Shurelds in a tough season in my life. That season had a complex emotional bent for reasons you'll discover on this podcast.

Rodney was the normal American male. Living in central Texas with his family, Rodney received a terrifying medical diagnosis that didn't just change his life, but many around him. In the following year, Rodney stepped closer to death and lost so much of what made him typically human. As time went by, things seemed to accelerate, and Rodney was placed on a donor receipt list just in case a miracle happened.

In January of 2020, a miracle did indeed happen. The problem is another family had to lose a loved one for Rodney to live.

....and this is where our story begins. Please join us for this emotional and frank conversation as we break down what it means to be receive life from another, the survivor guilt that comes with it, and the power of redemption through the family that lost their son so Rodney might live.

  • RSP #17 - The Disturbing Act of Voyeurism with Craig Gass | Episode #20 of Spike & Jones (2017)
Hey guys.... dig on this classic episode from the Spike and Jones podcast back in 2017 when we got to interview the legendary comedian, Craig Gass. Since the Spike and Jones podcast no longer exists in its current form (maybe one day to return?), we thought it might be fun to present a new edit with new material, along with a new opener where Gene Simmons makes an appearance. It's too bad we can't release the full unedited 2 hours, but things being as they are, some material must be kept private to protect us from inevitable lawsuits!

I should be very clear that this particular episode is literally the opposite of anything remotely politically correct. You're going to have your sense of humor challenged along with your sense of morals. It's ugly, dirty, and somehow magically inspired.

Our guest, the fantastic comedian Craig Gass, has been on Howard Stern, Family Guy, King of Queens, Sex and the City and American Dad. He's roasted Gene Simmons on Gene Simmons' Family Jewels, and he's a massive music fan and pseudo closet metalhead.

To us, what's most special about Craig isn't his skills to impersonate (and you'll hear the story how that skill came to be) no matter how amazing they are. It's actually his tremendously kind heart and soul. He's a super great, very real guy, who just lives and spreads smiles, even if they're sometimes guilty, and that makes it a distinct honor to share this classic episode with him. I personally didn't say much because it was much more fun to sit there and revel in it, but needless to say, I hope you're entertained, even if you'll probably complain.

You know it's bad when some of your closest friends unfollow you on social media in a huff. Yes, it's that bad. So, for what it's worth.... enjoy this classic release from 2017 with my good friends, Craig Gass and Spike O'Neill.

  • RSP #16 - The Life of a Punk Cowboy with Fee Waybill | The Tubes
It's rare to meet a hero.

I have been a Tubes fan and, subsequently, a massive Fee Waybill fan by default since I was old enough to understand their music and subversive nature. They were a cosmic force, built in the 60's and unleashed on the world in the 70's. They had it all.  Musicianship, showmanship, and crazy bonkers attitude. There was no stopping them.

Interviewing Fee was a dream and if I have anything to say about it, the dream will continue another day soon. For now, you'll have to be satisfied with what I got until I get more.

  • Loving Every Minute Of The Music Business with Mike Reno | Loverboy
Today, on Rockstar Superhero, we are blessed to have a conversation with the legendary front man, Mike Reno from the Canadian rock powerhouse, Loverboy. As we all know, Loverboy is pure rock and roll from a time when there wasn't so much of that on the airwaves, at least in the United States. In 1980, the music business was coming down from the disco era, and new era of musical styles were emerging.

Clashing with bands that were driving the new wave bandwagon, Loverboy powered its way onto the scene, bringing newfound charisma, stage presence, impeccable song writing, and driving beats that kids everywhere did their very best air guitar impressions to. What else can I say?

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Mike Reno of Loverboy on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast!

  • RSP #13 - Washing Your Mouth Out on Soap Operas with Ian Buchanan | Bold & the Beautiful
Recently, I had the blessing of speaking to the soap opera legend, Ian Buchanan and wow... what fun that was. I was incredibly intimidated, possibly because I also realized I was speaking with Dick Tremayne from the early 90's ABC show, Twin Peaks. Who can't submit to the legendary smile and charms of everyone's favorite Dick?

Between his career in modeling, to the many times he's shifted from soap opera to soap opera (being killed off, etc), he's created a mythos that's hard to overcome. Ian is intently focused on his work currently on The Bold and The Beautiful as well as his desire to support a few different charities benefiting education for the poor as well as a cancer foundation.  Ian is the real deal, and I'm just so happy to have met him.

I hope you'll enjoy as I stumble through the podcast and thankfully ended well.  That's really all I can say.

2:00 Ian in Scotland. Ford Modeling.
3:40 Came to States in the early 80's. Poetry and music.
5:40 Spain in late teens. Japan over the years.
7:45 Color in Ian's life. Dreaming in color. Flowers.
9:00 Television commercials. Changing his accent. Strasberg!
11:50 Foreign observer at the Actor's Studio.

  • RSR #12 - The 3 Most Intimate Deaths with Ray Brook
Here's an interview with the amazing Procter & Gamble executive, Ray Brook of Summit Seekers. Incredible true story! Hear his exploits while hiking the PCT, Kayaking the Sea of Cortez, climbing various mountains around the world, or biking all 50 states, 10 provinces and still finding time for his amazing wife. Just wait until you hear his proposal story! You won't be able to stop listening, and I believe this is an IMPORTANT interview... one that you'll find tremendous value in and cherish.  I loved every second of the experience.
