In the preparedness and armed readiness communities, we have seen widespread focus surrounding infantry tactics and conventional fighting doctrines. This has led to the many community leaders making reading and resource recomendations. US Army books and field manuals like the Ranger Handbook and FM 7-8 have become popular and are often among reading lists and recomendations for research and reference. This is great, but these books are intended for a very specific military audience and while they are full of fantastic information, it can be very difficult to navigate the nuance and translate the jargon.
This episode is the first in a series of episodes where Stephen and Jacob will break down and explain US Army "Battle Drills" found in Field Manual 3-21.8 (7-8). This first episode in the series gets into the history of battle drills and outlines the important combat lessons learned throughout US conflicts. This series seeks to provide a more detailed explaination of Battle Drills and wade through some of the obscure information and bridge the gap between US military fundamentals and the modern minuteman.
