Christ emptied himself of everything that was his so that he could share it with us. Let us celebrate Christmas by giving our whole selves to others.

Those who are truly in fellowship with God can be identified by their obedience to Christ's commands and their love for fellow believers.

The gospel is so that we turn away from sin to godliness, and also that we have confidence God is still for us who are in Christ even when we do sin.

Because God is light, true believers are those who admit the darkness inside them. Everyone who agrees with God's assessment that we are sinful in our nature and actions finds full forgiveness and ongoing transformation through Christ.

Jesus revealed God as perfect love and holiness. Anyone who comes into relationship with God will therefore also have purity and love shining out from their lives.

John opens his letter without the customary greeting. Instead he opens with a rich introduction of Jesus. He teaches that Jesus is Eternal God and the source of all life. He knows this because he saw, heard, and even touched him. His purpose in sharing his testimony with others is to bring them into the joyful, eternal fellowship of God and his people.

The letter of 1 John was written to give assurance of true belief and salvation to churches who were under the threat of turning to a false gospel. It has great encouragement to us of the certainty of our salvation, as well as a warning to turn away from sin and towards love.

The uniquely wonderful God has personally worked to restore us from separation from his goodness to a state of enjoying and worshiping his glory - in this very moment and lasting to all eternity.

Jude closes by turning our eyes from the turmoil and uncertainty of the hear and now to the hope and confidence we have in the glory, power, and goodness of God and the future happiness he has already secured for us on the cross.

We maintain our relationship with God by establishing and maintaining other people's relationship with God. Believers are to be urgently turning people from unbelief and sin towards eternal life in Christ. This must be done with varied approaches and care to keep from being polluted by the vary sins we are saving people from.
