Christ has called us to make disciples and preach the gospel and this also includes healing the sick, and raising the dead as well as bringing power and signs and wonders through the Holy Spirit.

Like a children on Christmas morning can’t wait to get their hands on their presents. So Christ wants His kids desire the good gifts He has for us.

It is hard to believe that Christ has made us perfect because we see ourselves day in and day out. Our failings, short temper, liberty with the truth, and every other fault seem plain enough to us and our family! Yet, to live the life of freedom Christ intends for believers to have, this truth is a cornerstone. Jesus has made us perfect forever by dying in our place.

The story concludes in verse 35 This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart." Unforgiveness is the heart of the issue in this story. Not the unforgiveness of the servant as much as the unforgiveness that he felt. If the servant had believed he was forgiven the ending would have been very different, the same is true for each of us.

It is a story of perfect communion with God. This perfect communion was interrupted by Adam and Eve’s choice to distrust God and hand dominion over to the serpent but God has provided a solution to our broken communion in sending His Son. It says in Luke 19:10, the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost! Our communion with God is part of what was lost, but Christ has provided a way for to take it back!

Colossians 2:13-15 is a reminder not only of the work Christ has done on our behalf, but also of the victory He has won for us over darkness.

Luke 15 tells us the story of the Father’s reckless love for two sons- the wayward and the dutiful. Both sons had the wrong idea about their Father. One thought his sin disqualified him from the Father’s love, while the other spent his life in the Father’s house but still related to the Father as servant. Whatever your relationship to the Father, God wants you to know that his love for you is boundless and he is reaching out saying, “everything I have is yours.” Luke 15:31
